I can sure appreciate the work that went into creating a Hirohata convertible, but the hardtopped roof and window frames of the original (and Jack Walker's clone) are an essential part of the design, in my opinion. I wonder if any builder ever attempted the version presented by Harry Bentley Bradley as a Hirohata 2 door wagon?
This Merc is one you have to see in person to really appreciate the Winfield Fade. I was fortunate to see it at the Kustom Kemps of America's Spectacular. Kool picture of one of my favorite fades...
Not so much a fan of the pipes but that perfect fade makes up for the lack of any other trim on the side of the car. Adds some interest that is usually presented with trim.
