Finally got the 56 Mercury home.
The previous owner put a 4.6 Ford in it so we pulled that out. And started the preliminary cleaning.
I noticed the bolt pattern on the wheels seems to be 4 3/4 anybody ever seen this Chevy pattern on these cars?

Your bolt pattern should 5 x 5 unless it’s been changed.

That’s what I thought then I measured this morning and it measures 4 3/4. It doesn’t look changed but anything is possible I suppose

How did you measure them - you do not get a correct reading if you measure one to the next on a five bolt pattern.

An easy way to measure is to measure the distance from the center of the spindle (or axle) to the center of one lug, then double it.

Yeah it was just an empty block and heads and empty trans to make the motor mounts.
But yeah I pulled it out. You can have it and the transmission if you want.

Thanks for the offer, but no need for that. I'm just keeping my eyes out for a low mileage 93-95 dohc just in case I ever wear mine out. When I set mine up, I used a plastic mock-up block and empty******* case........saves a lot of wear and tear on the back.
I love '56 Merc 2dr htps, btw! Didn't those originally have that door trim up by the window, or was that an option?

I think that was an option. This one is a medalist so it’s not very fancy like the Montclair.
