  1. Here's one I did a few thousand years ago. I took this:

    And created this:

  2. OK @madfish as you and most everyone on HAMB knows by now I'm a died in wool Chevy fan so my racer had to fit that bill. Here's what I came up with and because I live a stones throw away from Lime Rock Park where as a veteran I'm lucky enough to qualify for free admission to all of the events held there I thought it would be appropriate to include it in the theme of my work. Can't wait to see what the other guys come up with as well!!!

  5. @madfish I guess it is a small world. Back around 1991 I was part of the crew that raced a 1974 Porsche 911RSR 3.0 owned by Bill Strakosch the owner of WES Cadillac in Waterbury. Paul Numan was often at the track when we were getting the car ready for race day. He was usually focused on mastering the track and didn't care to associate too much but we did have a couple of conversations. Attached is a picture of our crew getting suspension tuned for the track conditions. That's Bill in the driving suite and I'm the one on the left. If you look really hard you can see the car in the background...

What about just stretching the fin to the rear so it doesn.t look like an after thought that didn't fit the space?

That's a big improvement, the other possibility would be to make the fin go all the way to the back but that may not work out with the stock tail lights.

Then you probably ran into Michael Brockman, he was Paul's racing partner (not Newman Hass) Paul usually ran the Corvette. Each year, Paul would change the number of his car to his age that year. Before he died he and Brock were building another Corvette with the number 83. Brock died a few years after.

By 60 they should have been gone anyway…If they were more Fordish they many have sold a few extra……

  13. @madfish I never met Brockton personally but I did meet Bob Sharp who was another Connecticut racer associated with Paul....All a long time ago:(

I gotta agree, haven't been here as much as I'd like to be but 27 different versions of wheels ain't the most exciting thing in the world.
That said, I had a similar idea awhile back and have been working on a "What If" off and on for about a month. I was gonna do the anchor and rope thing, forgot who started that.
My "What If" started out as a 1952 Buick Special. This is the 'before". I hope to finish this weekend. Anyone want to guess what it will become?:D:D

Just wanted to play with this. The rear quarters are a little strange on these, so I went with something different and slightly more modern (circa 1956) 1952-Buick.jpg .

  20. @James D I had to go find the one I did! Keep in mind this was in the 90's! File long gone, I recently found the printed image.

Added hooded Buick headlight bezels, sectioned hood, 1 piece windshield, chopped, redid the body line to mimic the Riviera side trim. I angled the rear edge of the quarters forward.

Call me crazy, but I've grown to love those stubby little fins (both iterations)!
