    That was Buster Couch, longtime NHRA starter for 30 years. He passed away at age 66.

    Buster was THE man. I know of a rather amusing story of a certain F/C racer, Buster and a rubber snake. Buster was deathly afraid of snakes. :D

  17. Buster was the man. Once when I was running a NHRA race at Rockingham Buster had some guests out on the starting line. I did a dry hop after coming out of the water and the steering wheel came off as I had not checked the quick disconnect. Did my best to get wheel back on before Buster turned around and saw what an idiot I was. I got away with it. Thankfully they we’re looking down track.
