Does anyone out there know of a company that can rebuild the Speedometer and the Gauge pod from a 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe? Or am I going to be relegated to spending a lot of money on new gauges? I'd like to have the ones I have rebuilt, with new engine temp bulb, oil pressure lines, etc.

As a secondary question, I have a T5 transmission that has the mechanical speedometer mechanism on it, with .373 gears out back. I remember reading somewhere about using a green gear or something like that but damned if I can find it. Can anybody assist with this?

    Check with these guys:

Others will have other suggestions as well. Williamson's converted the clock in my '54 Ranch Wagon to 12 volt quartz. Nice work, fair price, but it took a while.

When I inquired about repair the temp gauge for my '39 Ford p/u by email they got right back to me. When I had them do the clock conversion the owner called me several times to keep me in the loop. So my take is they respond to both emails and phone calls very quickly. JMO

Depending on what the rebuild might cost and if you're using 12 volts, these might be something to consider. I used them in both a 51 and a 52. When I bought them for the 52 they were about $200.00 less. The 51 was about $100.00 less. They do come in many different styles. A slight modification to the original gauge bezels and they are a nice fit and look right at home.

Another vote for Williamsons. I called and he returned my call that evening. I'm having them update a SW "Vac-Tach" for me. Fairly reasonable. Might have a little wait but when a company does quality work they are going to be busy. Open Monday-Thursday.

What sort of modification was needed if you don't mind me asking? And you are saying the 2 gauge set was around $400 when you ordered? How long ago was that if you don't mind me asking?

I also have a wind up clock I'll ask them about. They sound like a very reputable company from the responses I'm getting. Thanks!

I would have to say the 52 was done near 20 years ago. I've had it since 03 and did the gauges when I rewired the car and after I miswired and burned out the stock fuel gauge. I installed a new tank and with the new gauges I also installed a new sending unit. A lot of the work that I did to both cars was during the winter months. The 51 was done over 10 years ago. I do remember buying the gauge set for the 51 when I was at a Rhinebeck meet. The stock bezels needed to be trimmed around their circumference to allow the gauges to fit in them. I also recall using the stock gauges housings to mount the new gauges into and then I was able to bolt them into place using the stock gauge housings. While doing this swap, it was pretty apparent just how I was able to go about it by using some of the original parts again.

Any contact info for Rusty in Colorado Springs? And not to air out dirty laundry but can you summarize your experience briefly? Or PM me if that's more appropriate?
I learned a lesson when dealing with what was supposed to be a reputable company out of AZ several yrs back. This was at one time a leader in old truck and inline 6's. I got burned pretty good by them.
I'm not questioning the integrity of any particular company, just wanting to know of peoples' experiences.

    Thank you!

I can do the speedometer but don’t do small gauge repair, just cosmetic clean up and testing on small gauges.
If you want one stop shopping on this one I also recommend Williamson’s.

I've used both Rusty @e1956v and Williamson's. Happy with both. And kudos to Rusty for recommending a competitor for services he doesn't perform.

Heard back from Williamson's. They answered the email pretty quick! The cost is about the same as a new set of decent gauges. I like the old look though, so I will have to save my pennies for now. I'm thinking the speedo still works, or it did when I blew the car apart to cut it up for my Sedan Delivery project.
    Thanks everyone for the feedback.
