Hi guys. Owner wants an overdrive. Frame is set up with C.E. split bones, C.E. x brace auto trans mount/wishbone mount. Th 350 trans. Has anybody added one of these to a ‘40? Just wondering if the existing C.E. trans/wishbone mount and their top plate need to be modified to fit the overdrive.

It doesn’t answer your question, but a 2004R properly built would probably fit right in place of the 350. Nice ratios and probably not as much money as the gear vendors unit and the labor.

    And easier to operate.
I’m running an add on OD
Works good. I turn it on and have to remember to turn it off. Keeps ya on your toes.

I’d prefer a regular OD auto though.
The attraction for a GV is the HP and GVW they can handle.
Probably not an issue in a 40

I have a GV in my forty, split wish bones, 350 trans. If fit fine and is a blast to use. Especially when you are running a 456 gear,

It might come down to what the owner's budget is. 2800 for the GV for a turbo 350 plus a driveshaft plus your labor as apposed to the cost of a 2ooR4 and your labor. I've always liked the Gear Vendors OD and wish I had one in my OT truck with the Cad 500 and turbo 400.
