I picked up some Packard trim, always envisioned this car with it, but am still considering where and if I am going to run it. Whats your opinion? I have a favorite. but would love to hear what others think. MicrosoftTeams-image (5).jpg

Number one please. But I’d drop it about four inches.
    Cool custom.

Number one looks good and the lowness of it visually makes the car look lower. I’d like to see it on line with the center of the wheel horizontal like it is. That might look more good, might not. I see how you have it pointing at the top of the round center part of the hubcap. Good visually. This in my opinion is the most common placement for the trim.

tied with number one, I like number four. I like how it comes off the top of the wheel arch. It looks like some thought was put into the placement. I like the trim triangle thing nestled in the wheel arch. In this higher position the trim on the window ledge and body complement each other and visually look like a team, one pointing forward and the other point rearward in harmony, like it was planned out. A east west kind of thing.

It’s hard for me to decide from a single picture. I would need to walk around the car and look at it at different angles and also park the car across the street and gaze at the trim from my front window.

i agree, there is some method to this choice of trim, and my kicking around its position. I have taken alot from other angles also, maybe ill post a couple of those for reference also.

    Hello,

The first one is the best for overall proportions. As long as the chrome strip is parallel to the body/fender line running from front to back. The surface split between above and below the strip is fine.

If someone will say the above the body line has more, they are right, but it is the fender/body line that is the dividing line. It is all about the overall prospective when viewing the custom car from the side. What grabs your eye when you first see the lowered custom car?

If you plan on doing a continuation of that cool roof artwork design, then do not put the side chrome strip in the middle. It will get too busy with the swirls, if you use the design. Plus, you have to use the chrome strip as a divider and make the swirls stay above or below the line.

No swirls/scallops, use the mid-level chrome strip. Continued swirls/scallops, do not use the mid level chrome strip. It is all about simplicity and good design, as well as proportions of the custom car. YRMV

Lonely vote for #2, matches the car. They all look good though, I think #4 would need some massaging of the wheel opening to match the trim.

    (A) is my first choice.
    (D) would be a distant second choice.

B, except flip them side-to-side so the "fat end" is rearward.

I would like #2, except for the small body line coming from the head light. That said, the trim lengthens the appearance of the car and gives it a lower look in the #2 position.

Mount the trim the way you like it. It's your car.

#2, but would be better with the leading edge centered on the fender crease.

I like #1, it ends at the center of the forward most part of the rear fender, which just looks correct.

Okay, with the new pictures I’ll say number 1 looks good and is in my opinion the “most popular” and “safest” look.

my official vote is for number 4

It looks great with the different angles and not everyone will like it which suits me just fine.

I was going to echo one of the first posters who wanted to see the spear through the center line of the wheel, and I would like to see that. I also just noticed that beauty line on the rear quarter ahead of the tail light, Me thinks I'd like to see the trim at a height that might be sympathetic to that rear quarter accent molded line, also.

I like #1 for several reasons.
It balances the lower body mass.
The spear at the front mimics the belt-line trim and is more related rather than accentuating the wheel opening.
Since the front fender already has an accent embossed line the trim works
better mid-body rather than mid fender giving each area its own accent.
