My friend found this nice 55 tucked away in the early 70’s and not touched, as found!

Looks like all she needs is a screamn’ 301”, a T10 or Muncie and some 4:11’s ; if not in there already! That’s one great ‘55!

That's the coolest five I've seen in a long while. Everything about that thing trips my trigger. Those blue streaks look new!!

Sold mine. It hurt, but money felt good. Moving on to a forty coupe when a good one pops up. That'll ease the sting.

In '64 I bought a '55 Delray from a East LosAngeles wrecking yard for $125. Rust free, no dents, no broken glass and a running IL6 and 3 speed. As we all know those days are long gone. I paid quite a bit more for my current '55 Delray but it was worth it,it's my favorite year and model.

Just a bump, can't vouch for accuracy.

"The Chevrolet 210 or Two-Ten is a midrange car from Chevrolet that was marketed from 1953 until 1957. It took its name by shortening the production series number 2100 by one digit in order to capitalize on the 1950s trend toward numerical auto names. The numerical designation "210" was also sporadically used in company literature. It replaced the Styleline DeLuxe model available in previous years. The 210 was discontinued after the 1957 model year to be replaced by the Biscayne.
The 1955 model year marks the introduction of a new chassis and the debut of the small block V8. The center door frame was beefed up for more safety.[2] Brakes were 11-inch (280 mm) drums.[2] The Two-Ten buyer was free to choose any powertrain option available. The ammeter and oil pressure gauges were changed to warning lights."

My uncle's '55. Was running a 6 when he bought it after he got out of the Marines (he and dad joined together, Uncle Bill went to Hawaii Dad went to the Korean War). Super clean ride and I don't have many pics of it, some home movies though showing the '55 and dads '54. The pic with my cousin standing behind the car was about '59-60 as she was born in '58, 2 years younger than me. My dad and uncle built a little 3 carb 283 and plopped in in the car, added some traction bars and lowered it. They had a blast street racing and dad said tuning the 3 carbs was a huge learning curve for them. Few years later after accumulating tickets for racing and the car being too low, it was raised back up and then just sat for a long time. Uncle Bill bought a '57 chevy pickup and the process was started again, they pulled the engine and trans out of the car, dropped it into the truck and the 55 sat for a few years in their driveway.

The pic with UB sitting in the car was the day they pulled the engine at our house. You can see the little traction bars peeking out. Just a hint of paint on the quarter panel of the name Chantilly Lace. Those traction bars hung in our garage for as long as I can remember. Would love to have them today for my '55.

UB sold it for 15 bucks. Said that was the going rate.
He was an electrical engineer and worked for NASA for years. When he started his career, not at NASA yet, he worked with and was good friends with Bill Golden of Little Red Wagon fame.

Its because of my uncle running Lee lenses that I put a set into my stalled 55 project. Just love the look of them.

Great stuff, Guys! The '55 Chevy has always been a favorite of mine, however way too expensive for a turn-key car. Maybe one day a barn find...tho doubtful. :) I enjoy tooling around in my '58 Studebaker sedan with few worries over anyone looking twice. Ha!
Also enjoy taking this ol' girl out, once in a while (down below). Everyone asks what it is!

Nice car! That's a "real" Avanti, not an Avanti II second generation. yes?
