Glad to see everyone chiming in! Ive got big plans for this and already put alot of it into action. Once these pesky B Pillars get squared away ill post detailed pics of the chop. Gonna get her way down there. Ive got a couple months togo until the Roc but if I can keep this pace itll happen!
I'm also looking for a 34 ford bell crank that's commonly used in juice conversions most I've seen are way high dollar lol if anyone's got one squirrelled away Id buy it from ya. Or shoot me your ideas on making a 40 ford master work with 34 pedals!!
I got some desoto stuff that @Tim left with me. masters bell, bell cranks etc. if you make it over before you find what you are looking for give it a look. Maybe something there will work for ya or you can trade it for what you need. Do you have peddles? I'll make a pile while I am digging.
@porknbeaner hes got 34 pedals bolted in now. the ear on the pedal pushes in the wrong direction so he’s looking for the bell crank option to reverse it. I’ve seen people cut the tab off and weld it back in the correct position and then make a bracket off the frame / cross member to hold a master but I think an option that doesn’t involve cutting the brake pedal is probably a smarter move @Austin kays do you have a photo of the bell crank your wanting to find?
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-my-take-on-33-34-hydraulic-brake-pedals.437187/ This seems like an option. from what I can make of the photos 34 pedals clutch and brake pivot on a shaft and have rods attached directly to the pedal itself. he’s put a longer shaft into the pedals and pinned the brake pedal to the shaft. Then taken the short lever off another pedal, looks like he used a model A pedal instead of another 34 as it’s what he had. now the clutch still functions as stock, and then brake rotates the shaft and the new arm pushes the pushrod backwards into a master. later ford pedals do the clutch like this I believe. Seems like a straight forward option. not sure where he sourced the longer shaft? I need to read it again but model A pedals shouldn’t be hard to find
@winduptoy and now we actually know what we look like so I can say the first not the 70th time I walk by lol @Austin kays the photos loaded up better this time!
LOL....and we were civil to each other all 70 of those times.... @Austin kays ..glad to see that the outdoor work area is of choice....I've got too much stuff or too small a garage too
This is crazy amazing! So much work, so short a time. I can't even seem to get a starter unstuck in less than 6 weeks. LOL Excited to see your progress and even more excited to see it in Oct.
figure ill trailer it down being it will have almost zero test drive time, But the run at the Roc should be as good of a shake down as any haha
With 200-300 fellow hot rodders, nearly no other traffic and scheduled food and coffee stops along the way I’d say that’s a great plan!
Not stock photo made a cool video of last years show loading in. makes me think I should get up early, get in and parked and then sit along the road with a drink and watch them rumble in
For some reason it made me think of @Tuck 34 from a zillion years ago found this old video of it. Won’t be long and you’ll be making your own video!
I've got a couple of them. The one on the right came with a bunch of 34 Ford stuff and the one on the left I have no idea what it came from.
Thanks! just gonna keep chipping away at it! I watched everyone go to the Roc last year and man it looked like a hoot! Not gonna miss out on the fun this year!
Cool project, ... but that dirt and rock driveway needs a concrete slab ! Hurts just looking at the pics, 'cause my new place has the same type rock driveway
