    Haven't done much yet.

I recently accepted a new job offer including another big move across the country so we've been in full swing for that. The roadtrip for the coupe was actually a little break from that lol.

Anyway ordered tires and tubes but the rears are backordered until the end of the month at least.

Also found some water in the fuel filter on the way home so I drained that and then when I tried firing it again there was more in the filter... so today I drained the tank and filter. I'll blow out the lines and open the carb tops too eventually but I dint have gaskets in case I tear one so I'll need to get those. And with everything else tearing into carbs isn't high on the list at the moment. Free, easy and already in the garage is the name of the game for the time being lol.

We're heading further away from home lol. To South Carolina. Doing the same thing as I do now. Construction Project Manager for a C-Store chain.

We will be here until August. You're more than welcome anytime. Unfortunately it's not ready to make a burger box trip or get down your way.

Per usual I can't leave well enough alone. Had a few minutes today. My front tube is supposed to he here shortly. Just something to get it on its own weight for now. The actual tires and tubes won't be here for a bit.

Got the tire off the rim.
    Duck tape as a "flap"
    Half the tire back on.
    Baby powder
    Tube partially inflated and installed
    Make sure nothing is pinched
    Install the 2nd bead
    Fill with air.
    Done

Never done that before but I watched a YouTube video once lol how hard can it be?

Turns out pretty straight forward really. I guess we'll see how it goes with the new rubber later. I assume that will be more challenging.

Lastly I tried an artsy pic lol
There is a switched red light on the engine and I dropped my light behind the car because it was too dark without it.

What do I need to locate to put a fan on here?

This little idler would go away. As well as replacing the narrow belt with a wide one that actually fits the pulleys

Actually kind of figured it out already just haven't put anything together with the upcoming move.

Got basically a NOS 8BA fan and mount from my friend Gene Cross back in IA.
Got a dual belt crank pulleyto drive the water pumps and Gen on 1 belt and the fan on another. Seems like it will have room with 1 exception.

The current crank pully is up against the front crossmember so I'll need to adjust things to make 2belt pully work. Either by raising the front of the engine or clearancing the crossmember.

Is the front member stock? Most hot rods I see have the whole back area where the banger mounted cut right off

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Excellent story. You need to reach out to @flamedabone if you're going to be anywhere near the Charleston, SC area. He's a good guy.

@Tim no that tray that's normally on the backside is gone already.

@alanp561 well be in Myrtle Beach which is only a couple hours from Charleston. I'll need to get ahold of him while I'm making new hot rod friends

Good luck on the new move, hope you settle in easily.
I recall a long move with EX wife, she hated hot rods...Huge U-Haul van, my '27 Highboy on Deuce rails strapped atop the van... (Engine, axles & running gear inside with the furniture)
She cursed the classic roadster all the way to Santa Cruz! (CA.)
Got rid of her, kept the roadster. LOL

I'll update more from our completely insane last 3 weeks later. But as requested.

    First order was new tires
Went from 600/700x16s to 550/750x16 Firestone blackwalls. Basic hot rods 101

Also replaced the starter which was melting itself at the battery terminal. Picked up a recently rebuilt starter and generator from @Austin kays on our way back from vacation in IA last week.

It was hard physically restraining myself from touching the coupe because we are moving after all. Moving van got delivered today. We'll load it in the triple digit TX heat and then by Thursday it will he picked up and headed east.

I'll have the model a with me behind a penske truck and I'm still figuring out how to get my jeep out to SC so if you know anyone let me know lol.

Great story! I love banzai road trips. Dig the Coupe!

I say tow the Jeep behind the Penske. Store the Coupe (with a basic toolbox in the trunk) at a friends house. Fly back to TX later and drive the Coupe to SC. Time it so you can hit a show or two along the way in the South. Maybe a TX friend wants to ride shotgun then fly home?
That would be better than flying back to drive the Jeep cross country.
The Coupe has a fresh set of rubber for a reason...

That would be a great idea... it's currently lacking a little in the brakes and clutch department though.

  21. Cool story, good luck on the move! My new bride asks me if we would ever move. I am one of those that put down DEEP roots even though I could probably double my income anywhere else. Plus I have too much chit!

The too much shit part is hitting a little close to home today. As I'm loading the moving van in a heat wave.

OK so here's the cliffnotes version of my last month. Not super hot rod related so i wont go into crazy detail, but kind of puts my life out there and explains why I haven't messed with the coupe much yet.

So we get back to TX with the coupe.

That week I put in my notice at work that I would be leaving for a similar job on the east coast as mentioned before.

2 weeks later we fly to Galveston for a National Dance competion my oldest and youngest are performing in. (Middle daughter retired from dance then tried again and retired again lol she's just not into it)

    That week included
    - kids first plane ride
    - kids first time seeing, feeling, tasting an ocean
    - sunburn
    - dude casually walking around a mcdonalds with a machete
    - wife getting pooped on by a bird
    - wife going ass over elbows climbing some rocks to get off the beach and hitting her head and scratching up her freshly sunburnt shoulders pretty good.
    - plus a ton of fun
    - lots of laughs
    - etc.

Week 2 we boarded a Royal Caribbean cruise to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico
First time on a cruise for any of us. We are all known to get seasick (great plan I know) but we brought enough Dramamine that it wasn't an issue.

Day 2 on the ship I get some frantic messages that pur front door to our house was wide open. Either the realtor, contractors, or dog sitter didn't get it shut all the way and it had blown open. Anyway neighbor messages me to call ASAP cause the cops were there. Apparently my neighbors dog got loose at the same time the cops mistakenly thought it was our dog so they shooed it into my house locked the door and left. They also locked our vehicles which had been how the dog sitter was getting in. Eventually we got that squared away.

Then after returning to the ship on our second port day we get a call from my sister telling us that my mom had had a major stroke, fallen out of the shower at my parents lake house in Okoboji and she was currently in ICU in Sioux Falls, SD. Not much we could do but we appreciated my sister calling to tell us.
After that the rest of the cruise was uneventful. Stull had a good time but also worried about my mom.

Week 3 we get back to Galveston 7/6 and we're supposed to be I'm Okoboji ourselves the next day. So we flew back to DFW (saved us 5 hrs off what would have been an 18 hr drive from Galveston to the lake) repacked and loaded the minivan. Slept a couple hours and left for Iowa the next morning.

Why did I agree to do all of this lolol?

We get to the lake have a great time with friends. Boji is pretty close to where Mt mom was too so my wife and I were able to visit her a couple times. She was still in ICU though so the kids couldn't which was a bummer for them.

After that we drove back to TX
Back to work my last 2 weeks. I made it about an hr into my first day back and they decided to accept my resignation then rather than waiting it out which leads us to now.

We really shouldn't have taken the trip because we had a chit load of stuff to do at the house because after all we are moving to South Carolina (but the trips were booked and paid for before we knew about the move and we didn't want to waste that $$)

Anyway here we are the moving truck is in the driveway. We have almost no help to pack and load everything. My wife starts work in SC Monday (new teacher orientation otherwise she wouldn't have to report for another couple weeks)

Anyway that's it. That's where I'm at/were at. It's pretty stressful, if stupid hot in TX right now. Amd I'm here unwinding from the day but complaining to all you on the internet. Lol

It's not really complaining though. After all the crazier the story/experience, the more likely you are to remember it.

If you don't care any of this thats no big deal sometimes I just need to get it out in order to unwind.
    Cheers.

Before long we'll be settled in in SC and I'll be knuckles deep in making the coupe roadworthy again.

    "Won't go into crazy detail"

Proceeds to go into crazy detail lol I really did leave out a lot.

Ou should also say mom was in ICU for 12 days. Then got moved down a tier. And had actually been cleared to be transported closer to home. She's going to Madonna rehab in Omaha so only 2 hrs from Des Moines instead of 4 and Dad will finally be able to go home some. They left home June 30th and haven't been home since mom still needs time and therapy but dad is losing his mind sitting in a hospital room unable to do anything to help.

  30. Wow! I thought my month was crazy. You win. We just got back from Rome. We did a 7 day Mediterranean cruise also on Royal Caribbean. We love cruising.

We will probably be moving out of state too, but next summer. Show me that it can be done without losing it!
