    It's a small brass item, maybe 3" tall. I was thinking possibly from a very early car. Possibly something to do with the side curtains or kerosene headlamp.

    As mentioned , more pics. But clean it up first, pics from different positions.
    Looks like it has a cradle to hold something in place. Is the end (somewhat pointed) is removable?

    In addition to being addicted to the old car hobby, I also enjoy metal detecting old homesites and such. I am a member of an online metal detecting forum and there's a sub forum for unidentified items found with a metal detector. Someone posted the item the other day and hadn't received a definite answer.
    We're going with a valve from an antique coffee urn. Thank you one and all for responding.
