  2. I was there with Gordy Brown, Greg Warg and Kent Nielsen in Kent's chopped Chev. One of the best KKOA events ever.

  3. One of many great moments captured at a Leadsled Spectacular for everyone to enjoy for years to come. This was at the first Spectacular in Wichita back in '81. One of my all time favorite pictures. E

Looks like Elwood Dapp's (RIP) 49 Buick is for sale and new colors ... unless someone cloned it down to the same Front End, Taillight and Exhaust treatment ...

@McPhail has been hunting for this car for a while. Figured this was good place to look IMG_8142.jpeg IMG_8140.jpeg IMG_8141.jpeg

  7. Looks the same to me. Still a beautiful car, but I liked the purple and the yellow versions better. Thanks for sharing @demmel!

  8. Haven't seen Doug's Fleet since the Leadsleds back in '05. Such a cool car! I was really surprised when Doug parted with it.
It figures Dennis would love this car. Doug's car as well as @McPhail's always had about the best sounding inline pipes on the planet! Thinking back brings back great memories! E

49 Buick? I don't think the car in the photos is a 49.

  11. I had to dig into some records and photos and search a bit, but I found the car is a '48, not a '49. In the first KKOA book it showed it as a '48 but I missed it or it was a typo. In the picture of the car that I scanned and posted (in the original W.E.H.T. article--W.E.H.T. #42, the link is below) from the December '94 issue of Rod & Custom, they labelled it as a '49 as well, so I don't feel too bad (lol). I found another picture of it in the purple version with a show sign by it, and it said it was a '48 as well. I'll go and fix the article. Sorry about that..........E

  14. Great to see Mr. Irwin's '55 after all these years. It really is a damn shame though that someone decided to go nuts and turn it into a pro street car. Can't win them all I guess**sigh**..........E

  15. Man Sancho, you have a memory like an elephant. I can barely remember this morning! E

Seems like I saw it mid-late 90s at a fairgrounds Des Moines show (not sure if it was a KKOA or Goodguys event) looking really rough and in a partial state of pro-street changover. Could have been another flamed 55 Elco conversion tho. Least it's still around and the custom bodywork is still there!

I removed the pictures showing the off topic billet wheels. I saw on Ebay within the last year, either that car or one real similar sell. It was still unfinished. no further along than the pics you posted

  20. Ralph's 64 2023.jpg

I see that over on the "Kustom Blues" thread that @1pickup posted a picture of Ralph Schindel's old '64 Bel Air sled. Thanks for posting 1pickup!
Hadn't seen it in years. I mentioned on the other thread that I don't really agree with the builder/owner's current vision of the car, but I'm super stoked to see that it's still around.
I think of Ralph often and wish he was still with us. Ironic that this car was posted just 10 days shy of the 10th anniversary of his passing. Funny how that works sometimes. He is missed..........E

It looks like the picture was taken at the Symco show in Wisconsin earlier this month.
