Personally, I'm all for getting a group of us together to buy this place. So, what does it cost to run this place per year? Insurance, taxes, business license, maintenance, etc. Are the new owners going to have to get an EPA survey done? Lots of questions. Who in the local or county government is interested in developing this property and how far are they willing to push the price if someone else were to make an offer on it? I see that all the time here. Vacant property comes up for sale and I'll be damned if one of the county commissioners isn't involved? Next thing you know, it's mini-ranchettes or duplexes or condominiums. Insider information does pay off, doesn't it?

In all reality, if I was interested in becoming a drag strip owner, the 1st guy I would be talking with is the guy that is currently running it. He probably knows more about what is going on with the track then anyone else.

Lots of reasons why the track suddenly popped up for sale. Medical issues of the owner/family. Poor management. Up coming events that could make owning the track a real liability, or maybe the owner found something else he wants to put his money in. An existing exit off the interstate could make it a great location for a gas station/hotel site, or a large business building place and the "for sale" was just a requirement to get things rolling, the deal may already be done.

At least we get the 1st LloydFest in before it goes away.

  6. This could become the site of a year-round Lloydfest via crowdfunding!!! Room for campers, drags, could build a mud bog... the possibilities are endless!!

35 at $10,000 each . Who's in ? It would be like a timeshare or condo deal. We could all plan vacations during the year.

O.k. ,so Lloyd is going to be in charge of the track. We just need to get it bought.
For just $28 a day for a year you could be a 1/35 owner of a dragstrip. That's a bargain.
Enjoy a vacation and race all week or month or longer if you're retired. Camping anytime.
Vintage racing every weekend. Money maker to me.

If I was part owner I would still pay to race.
The group I have raced with thinks the track should pay us to show up, I just think that's wrong.

  18. And probably wonder why there seems like less competition at the track

After spending a few hours with Lloyd last week while on our way to the Tri-5 Nationals, I have decided that Lloydfest is something I don't want to miss. We stayed at the Out Post Camp ground in Salt Lick, Ky. It is a nice camp ground and not far from where the festivities will take place. Plenty of sites, full hook ups and pull throughs for $50 a night. I would recommend it.
I'll be bringing my "Moonshine" '40 Ford Coupe. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it, but since we have the Motor home, it'll be on the trailer to get there.
Lloyd is a great guy and I do believe this will be a fun time. Getting to meet other HAMBers in person and making new friendships. Who knows, this could become a yearly thing. Others may want to organize something like this in other areas. Just imagine having a "Markfest" in Wisconsin?
So, barring any unforseen problems, we'll be there. Thanks, Lloyd for organizing this.

Ya definitely want to come to the 1st one. If it gets too wild, the 2nd one may have to "go underground ".

  27. I am still trying to sort things out here with work, the drag coupe etc. I am trying my best to make it to the grand event.;):)

With the average age around here being 70? I doubt things getting too crazy lmao!! I'm trying to make sure there's things to do when everybody is here, of course the drag strip is a good thing. Making sure there's food, hiring a band for Saturday, etc... if anybody has ideas, shoot them to me. Gotta go see the tshirt guy next week. Only takes him 2 weeks to make shirts, so we're good there. Start shooting me your addresses if you're coming, so I can send you a ticket to get in. Once you're here we'll put a sticker on your headlight or something. Looking forward to hanging out with any of ya that can make it!

    Lloyd,
I’d like to add another activity for Saturday.
At 2:00 We’ll need about one hour nap so you’ll have to stop the racing for that. I get cranky when I don’t get one.
    Activities??
Just make sure we have enough tools and a trailer.
I’d guess we’ll have someone’s broken vehicle to get back on the road.

We're good, I've contacted geritol to see if they'll sponsor it lmao! My shop isn't far from the drag strip, should have everything tool wise anybody might need. And plenty of chase vehicles to go get parts.
