Just got back from the Bonneville Salt Flats picking up the cowl and doors for a new project. The cowl and shortened doors came available recently. They are from a heavily modified shortened 34 “roadster”. The cowl is very nice with a filled vent lid and a modified dash. I had actually seen the complete car at LARS in June.

The doors were shortened by about 10 inches, I’ll make new wood structures and fabricate the missing material

Mounted the cowl to a engine stand, this makes it a lot easier to move it around the shop

Just bought the cowl and doors. He had the rear clip for sale separately, but it was from a coupe and needed one of everything. Thanks for posting the pictures from Jason

Checked out that roadster at the LARS. Roadsters must have worthless when that was built. Builder must have been having nightmares. That said a lot of work and creativity went into it's creation.

  9. Ouch, it will be interesting to see how this turns out in it’s third life.

  10. It would be nice to see it as it was, as a Shriner's car again. Yes, it was cobbled together using a coupe back half. So what, it was some ones vision. You would not see another one like it at a show. We have seen many cars cobbled together here on the HAMB. some good, some not so good. It would certainly be different.

It was built with Pheaton hinges, so I’m assuming it started life as a Pheaton

How about putting it back on a stock length chassis and stretching out the hood. Kind of like a between the two wars Mercedes ssk roadster. Long nose, short body.

Why not fix it if he has the talent and ability to do so,both of which he does?

You are the current 34 roadster rescue expert! I’ll be glad to see you bring its dignity back.

  16. So, I'm looking at the photos, wondering what I'd do with it if I owned it. I think I'd take the door jambs out of the shorty doors and build it as a stock length roadster. I started out with less when I put my coupe together.

  19. Not meaning to speak on behalf of the shriners, but I believe they are a service club and raise money and sponsor specialty hospitals. Their parade participation also often includes minitrail honda bikes and they also have unique shoes to go with their hats.

Did a little deconstruction…the wood was in a little worse shape than I thought. Both cowl feet will need some reconstruction.

Glad it's in the hands of someone who can make it a real, full length roadster again. It did have some neat details in it's previous form (the dash is great, as is the headliner upholstery), but I don't see any good reason to leave it a "shorty".

Any idea what the asking price was for the rear sheetmetal clip? That would be the perfect piece to use to make a 4 door sedan into a 5W coupe. I've gathered enough bits to cobble my own personal '34 project together but I would have loved to have started with that rear clip.

The guy was asking $1800 for the rear clip, but it sold

Got some parts back from media blasting. Did a little work on repairing the dash. I picked up a doner dash at Hershey. Still in progress, next will be the gauge cluster.

    That's not a Ford, it's a rare 1934 Dafok!

As in what da fok was they thinking.

Too bad you didn't get the quarters and decklid. Looked to be solid.
