And I could easily post half a dozen photos of 33's (or what are claimed to be 33's) with the tall rib on the back panel. I'm not convinced you guys have got it figured out. Maybe, maybe not.

I’ve never heard about the extra rib on a 34 only.
Would someone post an “original” 33 without the rib and with the extended firewall???
I believe we lost the OP.

This article should answer a lot of your questions.
You have a lot of catching up to do if your 58 years old and not been involved in this hobby. Most of us have had the hot rod bug before we were old enough to drive a car.

  11. SBC in a ford? The reason is that with that setup all you need is cool tail lights.
Sorry I just could not resist.

Just for grins and to make you chuckle (@chryslerfan55 ) I was working for a large engineering firm back around 2009. Someone had a 34 chevy truck with an SBF in it that he was advertising. I asked the guy about his engine choice and he said that to be a hot rod it had to have a different engine from the original manufacturer to be a hot rod. Odd reasoning but it worked for me.

I am working on an OT parts hauler. It is an SBF truck. I got nothing against fords but they can be a pain in the butt. several different windsors, different firing orders different head bolts etc. 3 different Clevelands (I think), two bolt to big block trannys and one bolts to small block trannys. The Cleveland lands on different mounts than the Windsor and used different front drive components. The 302 used different front drive components than the 351. Tall decks low decks.
That's just small blocks and not considering the differences between the 260 and the later small blocks.

Between '58 and '66 they used 4 different automatics.

I really don't mind because I got nuthing against Fords but playing with them is like being a one armed man at a circle jerk. :D

  12. All '34s have the rib. Some later '33s purportedly have the extra rib; the majority do not, however. If the cab does not have the 3rd rib it is not a '34.

The OP's cab does not have the rib. Therefore it is not a '34.

All '33 and '34 cabs have the "outie" style firewall. Therefore it is not a '32.

That leaves the only option of it being a '33.

  13. In my experience it is whatever the title says. LOL

when vehicles are close from one year to the next it gets confusing even for the experts.

    '32 firewalls unbolt, 33-34 don't
'32 radiator mount above cross member,
'33-34 mount ahead of cross member and angle back
wheelbase on '33-'34 is longer than a '32.

  17. Just to follow up, he may have posted 5 times, but as the stats now show, that was the day he joined and asked questions. He has not been back to the site or participated since then. And that was last Tuesday.

I'm afraid he is becoming another one of 'them.'

I spoke with the guys at Alan Grove brackets when I was building the 302 for the wife's 55 Ford. I asked if they had a standard bracket set for the 302 and he laughed. He told me that in Ford's wisdom they had 21 different water pump configurations for the 302.
