6995.jpeg Jeremy and I managed to finish removing the exhaust etc from the Falcon. We fitted up the subframe connectors and tacked em in. This thing is super clean and cancer free.

  4. Sundays (yesterday) project here in 102° So. Cal heat
(I think I drank 5 bottles of water).
More rust repair on the A cab. So far it is just spot welded in. I think today I'm going to take a break from it and actually do work I make money from and tomorrow-ish I will get it fully welded in...
Also for anyone reading this in the future looking to do patch panels on a 1930 or 31 Ford Model A pickup. Normally I am pretty happy with everything I have bought from parts supplier CW Moss (in the city of Orange in California) but whoever makes their patch panels for the cab corners they are absolute garbage (This isn't CW Moss's fault obviously They just sell the product but I know they pride themselves in using quality stuff wherever possible and these must not have any better ones available). I think I can make them work without any special metal working tools but I pretty much had to cut off the entire behind the cab portion of the radius because it dove off and the body lines did not match up what so ever and Even if the rear of your cab was in pretty good shape and you literally just needed the corner I don't think you could do this without having the rear cab patch panel that runs the length of the back of the cab. About the only thing I will give the corner panels is they had weld through primer.
And yes to the 3 haters that Just like to criticize. I am using a flux core welder and I am doing this on the side of my house. 0806231720.jpg

  5. I was thinking about making a daily driver in the near future That functioned like a mini truck by either using a Ford 2.3 or 2.5 (same difference) or the Chev iron duke with a 5spd. I figured they would be a dime a dozen considering everybody drops v8s into s10s and rangers and oddly enough the square body trucks are now considered classic minis... (That is so weird to me I still view them as late model junk).
Anyways a 1935 to 41 Ford pickup probably doesn't weigh 3000 lb stock and a single cab first generation S10 weighs 2800ish lb so the weight is almost identical but you get a way cooler truck with a robust solid axle front suspension and being a Ford all the restoration parts are available plus I could do a cheapo disc brake conversion from speedway AC, heater fairly decent radio and stop when it needs to And it would make a really nice daily driver that I wouldn't have to smog (i live in California, we smog 76 and newer vehicles). Anyways just thinking out loud.
Your S10 engine and 5 speed is it really good combo and it can take some abuse and in your model A it'll give you pretty darn good gas mileage making it a really fun car to drive.

  6. Little Truckdoctor and I started to re-deck the floor of our 12’ motorcycle/UTV trailer. The trailer is 20 years old this year and has never had a new floor. When I ordered this trailer in 2003, I spent an extra $100 or so and had them install a treated wood floor. This trailer has been parked outside its entire life. I’d say that’s pretty good service from a trailer floor. This will be an excellent time for Little Truckdoctor to get some time with the Lincoln Tombstone welder.

Just finished up a job I really don't like to do. Sandblaster was clogging up. Emptied it, sifted the sand, put it back in. Works like a new one again. It's a pita to do though.

  9. Thanks for the positive comments on the Iron Duke/T5 combo. I did some quick preliminary research when I saw the ad pop up and jumped on it for $150. I figured the S10 tail shaft alone on the tranny was worth that much!
From what I know so far, it is most likely an 87 or 88 - I'm hoping for the 88 because that is the year they started using a balance shaft to control some of the vibration.

I'll probably try to find a carburetor for it since it is currently TPI. I don't have a problem with TPI, but I don't have the ECM, and it sounds like it would be more complicated for me to go in that direction.

Lots to learn on this for sure, but I'm excited to move forward with this! Once I get going, I plan to start a build thread on the 29, which I've had sitting in the barn for over 35 years now! Good gracious, how time flies.

Checking wheel alignment on the Corvette. I'm learning a lot, and haven't made any adjustments yet....

looks like the caster is about 1 degree positive on both sides. Spec is 2 +/- 0.5

7331.jpeg Finished welding in the subframe connectors and jigged up the 9 inch to weld the ends on. Wil be 57" wide with the big brakes.

I recently purchased a slightly not HAMB friendly car. I knew that it needed some work, but I thought you may want to see the prior owners fabulous work with a welder. The head had some issues apparently but his trusty welder came in handy.

The brake drum had some issues and once again, the welder came into play to save the day. By the way... the picture of the brake drum shows the "good" side. All studs were welded all the way around on the other side.

And then he said that he had installed a "new" exhaust system. You got it... the welder came into play
    to save the day.

I'm going to be busy for a while.

Finally installed an M6900 Carter fuel pump in the red 56. While at it I relocated fuel line away from inner frame rails within the engine compartment. 734A9D25-1C87-462D-A7DE-A285E5901BD2.jpeg

Yes 5x5 bolt pattern. They fit fine on my 1937 Pontiac.
I keep getting in trouble with off topic wheels, wanted to make sure I didn't get the boot for off topic cleaner. :D

Put down a couple coats of red and a couple coats of clear so they aren’t pink stripes in a couple years…

No worries here mate. I just thought it was funny to polish ford wheels with GM polish. If they were 5x4 3/4 I'd have offered to buy them by now! Long live the Cragar SS!
