We shouldn't get all sanctimonious about it. Variety is the spice of life. Just like in recipes there's spices that by themselves are not very pleasant but definately add the final touch. Seems we have some common peeves amongst the membership, spices that sorta put the kick into the flavor of all this shit. I can't even begin to share the stuff that frankly really chaps my ass. Why. Not fun. We've all met them or it and tends to be more like spoilage than spice. I don't see that here. Silly is ok, uninformed is expected, stupid and rude and classless, no thanks. Fuck off on outta here and lay that schtick on someone else. And BTW, it's ANTIFREEZE, not fuckin RADIATOR FLUID. Add that to the list. Or don't...
In Australia they sell radiator inhibitor as radiator fluid because it doesn't get cold enough in most places to require antifreeze.
Those funny little bow-tie headed fasteners used by Chevy on their early cars. The ones you have to butcher out with a flat driver blade, because you can't find the right "bit" in your collection.
I wondered who be 1st. "American Gigolo" didn't have any hot rods, or 2CVs for that matter. Didn't he drive a lounge lizard Mercedes?
"I may not be the sharpest cookie in the toolbox" but I do know A LOT about SBF's..... NOT everything but enough to know when some clown starts to tell me about his buddy had a stock 426/66 Mustang that out run everybody in his town that he's full-of-pudd'in! Maybe he's just lonely and wants to hear himself chatter.... I Don't Know That's usually when I get up and go look at the Shivel-layz..... 6sally6

Well since you mentioned Phillips head screw, they bug the shit out of me. I much more prefer a Robertson or even a torx but then again I'm Canadian eh.
Okay, @427 sleeper, Pet Peeves, huh? Ummm, the cat wanted out at 2, the cat wanted in at 4, the cat wanted to eat, fed the cat and went to bed. Cat jumped on the bed at 4:30 and went to sleep, alarm went off at 6, got up and didn't disturb the cat, made coffee. While waiting for coffee, researched Citroen 2CV, wrote post #39. Made ONE LITTLE MISTAKE and you're on me like my wife. C'mon, I got the Richard part right. I'm sorry, I know it's all my fault, but I want a divorce and you can have the cat. Got first cup of coffee at 6:38. P.S. Did I mention the cat's name is "Target"?
I was in California with my cousin years ago taking care of a family estate and we had to build something from lumber. The screws from Home Depot were Phillips. It was awful. I remember once for work we were in the states talking to some other engineers about how to keep something secure from being opened up once it went to the customer. One American engineer's idea was a square drive screw. The Canadians in the room got a kick out of it.
Like George Carlin said: "You ever notice how your shit is 'stuff' and other people's 'stuff' is shit?"
You just don't understand the American head-up-our-asses mind..... if it wasn't invented in the good ol' U S of A, it doesn't exist, or is no good. That's why we fund so much research to re-invent a wheel that the rest of the world has been using for decades!
The general public DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT about old cars. Wrong descriptions or model year or type - the website shoulda hired a better sales or data entry person ? ? Even car guys will get it wrong - they may be into a different era of cars ? ? If a "normal person", you know,, and SUV driver.. approaches you and says nice r*t rod. They don't know any better. Take pity on them for being so lame. They're just trying to connect and say they like your car - but they have no idea what it is. Don't let any of this stuff ruin your day, you got a classic street hot rat rod out in the garage to work on later.
Mines the ads I come across for a”fully restored 1936 xxxxx “. Then go on to list a SBC/TH350, tilt column, etc, etc. I even recall on 40’s vehicle similar to the above, but also on an aftermarket frame with IFS and such. It’s as much a head shaker as it is a pet peeve to me.
There was a local guy making 'glass bodies. His website used to advertise his "'32 Ford 3-window kit" — complete with pics of actual '32 Ford hot rods lifted off the internet — but the pics of his own product showed a '33-'34 coupe with a Deuce shell. So I asked, "Hey, isn't that a '33-'34 body?" And he got a bit aggro and protested, "My '32 Fords are based on '33-'34 bodies!" He has since changed his ways. I might even order a set of fenders from him, if I ever get that far.
How much do you have in it ? answer; I have absolutely no idea . Seems some have trouble understanding that .
SO, they're somehow trying to inhibit the radiator ? From what ? My grandfather said Australia was England's home of misfit toys ....
