Early in Junior’s career…. Pontiac was not a good choice in 1956 eventho it had only 15 less hp than the Chryslers. No Pontiac won a Grand National race which was dominated by the Chryslers, Dodges, Fords, and Mercs. The Keckhaufer Chryslers were booed unmercifully for winning to often and he quit NASCAR after the 56 season. Most of the Dodge wins cars were owned by Keckhaufer too.
Chevrolets did win 3 races and did better in the Convertible series with 10….Ford won 10 in the Grand National races and 20+ in the Convertible Series for the Championship.
