Most who study traditional hotrods know the most sought after dash component for any hotrodder was the Auburn insert. I would like to use this thread to pay tribute to the Auburn insert and also get a feel for the interest in a accurate reproduction. Please post pictures of your Auburn dash or hotrods with auburn dashboard.

Below are a few pictures of a sample from the new stamping tool I had made to reproduce the Auburn insert. If anyone is familiar with the accuracy of my reproduction gauge parts you will know that this will be a dimensionally perfect replica of the Auburn dash. Let me know if any one has interest in something like this.

For updates as to when these will be available you can keep an eye on my instagrams

Pat, if the accuracy is anything like your 2-5/8" gauge bezels, glass & gaskets, your Auburn will be a hit. Are you thinking of doing the holes or are you going to leave that up to the buyers?

Yes there are 5 versions being produced.

    1. original auburn hole spec.
    2. Original speedo hole and all 2-5/8 gauges.
    3. 3-3/8 tach or speedo with all 2-5/8
    4. 3-3/8 tach or speedo with 2-1/16
    5. Plain no holes

all styles will have original style embossed trim plates riveted to the face. With rear mounting studs.

What a deal, finally. It's reassuring that there are still entrepreneurs out there willing to take a gamble. I have been lucky to have 2 Auburn dashes along with the dash sheet metal. The first came with the original gauges, I bought it from Gary Vauhling in Denver in the early 80's for a few 100 dollars, I can't remember the exact figure. I foolishly traded the gauges to Jack Chisenhall for one of the first under dash air units designed for a 32 Ford. It's now in my deuce 3 window. It has vintage Moon commemorative gauges in it. My second was found here on the HAMB. I ran a wanted ad and the same day I got response from a man in CA he had the insert and sheet metal to fit my deuce roadster. I jumped on it immediately but I think it was about $2500. It has some old timey looking Classic gauges. Both inserts have engine turned inserts done locally by FPM in Fairbury NE. Put me on the list, I'm taking a third swing at a 32 Lakester I had Thom Taylor draw for me 20 years ago.

Thank you! There will be one with your name one it, and it will be a fraction of what you paid for the last one.

Since I haven't had the chance to open up my Don Montogomery books to snap some more auburn pictures, ill share some pictures of the massive stamping dies used to produce the samples. I'm sure the HAMB crowd will enjoy these as much as pictures of the actual part.

I would be interested in one of your Auburn gauge panels. Looks like a really nice product. How soon would they be available?

Thank you. I was hoping to have them ready for the Hershey AACA swap, but it will most likely be around December.

Wow, I've always loved the look of an Auburn dash. That might make a certain car that one of the things I don't like about it is the dash more interesting.

What are the general measurements? I have a 32 dash grafted to a 28/9 dash rail. I'd be HIGHLY interested- if it fits!

I had an Auburn dash in my '31 Ford roadster, they are the best hot rod dash ever...glad that you are reproducing them.
