So far the 26 has been a great project. After it being parked for a few years before I got it, thought I had all the bugs worked out. Was getting ready to take out for a cruise, noticed the brakes felt alittle spongy. Found a small puddle of brake fluid under it. Looked and the master cylinder is dripping...dang it. It's a frame mounted power brake system. Not sure of brand. So hoping the master cylinder has some marking so I can figure out what to get. Guess after sitting a few years, the cups are bad. I flushed the entire system when I replaced the front calipers.
Heck, at least it didn’t throw a rod when fired up! I don’t think it hates you, it’s telling you “give me some love”.
Yep, got lucky with the motor. Why is it that "give me some love" usually translates to "empty your wallet...lol
I crawl under tomorrow and get a couple pics see if y,all might recognize it. Lots of people smarter than me on this forum.
You can buy the cups and springs by size at any good auto parts store and rebuild it yourself for pennies on the dollar. Just take the innards in and have them match it up. That way brand doesn't matter. Not a terribly difficult job, either.
I'm at that stage with Our new project. Fuel lines done, brake hoses and master done and time to bleed. Wish me Luck! Always little stuff after they have been sitting for awhile.
I feel ya. I’ve been working out bugs for a year now with my sedan. Same deal it had been sitting awhile. I’m trying real hard not to get frustrated.lol.Snowman ⛄️
This is true Devin. The casting number on the old MC is 5460346 So now to do some research, just gonna find a new one.
No such number found on Amazon OR Rock Auto... Still searching. NICE sedan there... I had a candy blue one in '59, near identical to yours. The 'candy blue' was a 'thing' back then, today I'd do it in Washington blue, my upholstery was white with red trim, (kinda 'much', but complimented my flathead and reversed Merc wheels,,, wish I had a pic!)
Thanks for your help Atwater Mike I appreciate it. I think that cast number matches a 67 to 68 Camaro, but with GM bet it fits a few more cars as well. Still trying to research it also. Wish you had pics also, would love to see it
Okay, so the casting number is for a 67 to 68 camaro or 69 to 74 corvette from the research I've found. Line fittings are 9/16 and 1/2 inch Now to get one ordered
