Ford 427 SOHC engines

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by lothiandon1940, Dec 19, 2012.

  1. In 1976, I was really excited to get my used engine. I find it interesting to see that the mystique has lasted all of these years and the aftermarket has made so many parts. :)

I think the reason is that those engines were "otherworldly"from the get go!

  4. Here's an example of a good day gone bad. I saved this to remind myself of several things in life. :) The other rod was in pieces that was next to this one. This was a lightened Forgetrue piston with polished LeMans rods. DSC02855.JPG DSC02856.JPG

Lots of people have stupid amounts of money. I'm not one of them, but if I was a multi-millionaire, I'd have bought it.

I've heard, from more than one person, that Pete absolutely hated unnecessary weight.

You gotta know he had a lightbulb moment when he realized he could live without a blower belt idler pulley assembly.

He had one in a black 29 Ford two door sedan with a 671 blower on it. rumor was that it had a carb inside the blower.

  23. Here's the deuce coupe of Gay Peifer from Amherstburg, Ontario. Drove it all over the place, and his brother had one in his coupe too! Gay was inducted into the Canadian Street Rodding Hall of Fame in FORD SOHC-PEIFER.jpg 2022.
