  4. Just picked up this 38 dodge out of Baltimore. Plan to use it as an event truck for my flower farm once it’s up and running. Very excited to dig in!

My ol girl Winslow, I bought it from my nephew, its been in my brother in-laws family since about 63-64. Lived its life on a ranch and kept in a shop. I remember running around in it when I was it kid. It has a 58 button flanged 312 in it that runs good. The guy that built the engine was my high school machine shop and welding instructor. I got some new rubber on her the other day. I have the script bed off now doing some prep on it for new lumber. Don't see many 1/2 ton "Script" beds.

  15. VERY COOL. Looking at the bed, it sure doesn't look like Ford made many changes to the stake trucks in 26 years.

1946 Chevrolet Series 6400 Flatbed...a working farm truck.

    Hello,

On our impromptu Midwest tour of farms and the sights for passing travelers, we saw plenty of old trucks being used for everyday work ethic. Some of them were nice looking and at the time, we just blew by them on our way from the highway traffic jam leading to St. Louis. We got tired of sitting on the major roadway heading NE and took a path directly to this two lane back road that led us to Kansas City (both sides of the state line) on the river.

At the time, we were blowing off some steam accumulated in the two to three hours delay on that highway leading to St. Louis. We never made it to our final Eastern seaboard destination of a resort on the Chesapeake Bay island.

So, old cars and trucks flew by our windows until we saw hay bales in the normal rectangle blocks to the ones we never had seen before, rolled up hay bales that stood at least 6-7 feet tall.

On the roadway toward Kansas City.

But, here in sunny So Cal, the old trucks have seen its days. They take a well deserved vacation up in the mountains of Idylwild while keeping an eye out for brush fires that pop up now and then. Good old fellow taking a nice nap for preservation.

“The nice blue truck has not moved in years, it just sits there every time we see it on the side of the road.”
