I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been wondering what the latest on this is. Does anyone have any news yet?

  4. I spoke to the oldest owner of the car that I could track down, he told me he found the body at the dump. He then called me a couple days later and told me that his son knew where there was another one just like it sitting in a garage which confirms another post on this thread. I have the location of the second and complete car but have not followed up on it yet.

    Hi,
I just joined this forum, and hope this gets through.
I just returned from a father's day show 'n' shine in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island BC. The Uncertain T that has been aluded to in this forum was present at the event and I had a chance to talk to the current owner.

He is unsure of the history on his car, but would sure like to trace it. I mentioned I had some magazine info that I could provide him and I'd love to hear from anyone who has any additional info on the car. I've included a photo of the car from the show.

  8. The body on the blue car is closer to the original, than the yellow one. The back window (easy to modify) is different on both cars, and so is the cowl on both cars. It does has the "bump" for the steering though. Both chassis setups are pure "T" bucket, not at all like the "real" Uncertain "T". I heard that Steve Scott built more than one body, from the same mold. If that's true, why are these bodies all different? I love the real car, Dean

So, is the blue one the "other" one??? Back window is no biggie, I think it looks close (obviously excluding the frame/drivetrain and those sweet ass centerlines..).

Yellow one looks like a school bus in toon town. or ass. take your pick..

  13. why would Scott build a second body out of steel???

He already built the first one outta fiberglass????

The story I got was, he had an accident up in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. The car burned and he built the steel body as close to the original as he could. He is still up here on the Island. He changed his name to Steve Scott or Scott Stevens to avoid the draft people.
Eventually, the frame and all running gear was sold to someone in Washington state.
I took a bunch of pictures of the body a few years back and sent them to Jerry Wees something at one of the car magazines. No one thought it was related to the original. I'm about 10 minutes away from the sad remains.

  14. To take this long-lived string off on a detour, what about Danny Eichstedt's "Leg Show T" which had even more cartoonish (i.e., Roth shirt-inspired) proportions?

  15. I would like to hear more on this one myself!! This is a great piece of history,If you like it or not! Was a very cool car! Any way I would like to see a pic of that one that is in the top secret lacation! Very cool that it was copied so much it adds to the mistory. I wonder what the most copied car was?

I remember that car when it was first in the magazines. I was impressed by it then and this little soap opera saga is just frosting on the cake. I hope the "rest of the story" will unfold here on the HAMB, I'll wait with great expectations.

The devil's in the details, as shown on this thread. The only one here that looks worth a damn is the original. The rest of them look retarded with their fenders and too-wide tires.

That's a neat little T, kind of a shame that it didn't stay together. And built by a draft-dodger too, so sad. :p

I guess I'm showing my lack of historically significant rods, but I've never seen or heard of this car before today. I like the over the top cartoony proportions (especially refreshing with all the squash chops going on) but he managed to stay away from the futuristic/alien car look. It's inspiring. And GotGas is right, those clones look like shit compared to the original. A perfect example of how some people don't have "the eye".

Thanks for digging the thread up!

my dad had a model car of the Uncertain T when i was a young feller and i thought it was the baddedst damn car ever. i should kick his ass as he sold it when he started to buy and sell models for a hobby. not sure if it was an amt kit or what i'd love to have one now as i have never seen another and went ot model shows with him for 10 years. I do know that it was made by one of the model car companys years ago.

I just picked up a copy of the Summer 71 Hot Rod Magazine Street Rod annual (only a buck too!) and it shows a picture of what looks like the Uncertain T driving at a rod meet, comparing it to a picture of the original in Pat Ganahl's Custom Cars book it is really close in looks but I would say it was a different car. I'm sure the car may have several clones out there.

UFO PHOTOGRAPHED IN PEORIA!!! (Uncertain flying object)
This picture was taken in 1970 by Tom Medley. The guy did'nt stop to chat I'm sure, but the license plate on the back was Illinois. I always thought this was the original car, but maybe not. The engine seems to be nailhead Buick. Maybe this body came out of the same mold as the first body, as it looks like the 1965 car, and this is anouther home built project.????
Also, I read in a magazine that the owner of the original car traded it and it's trailer to an electrician in exchange for some work done to his home back in the late 60's.
I've seen pics of the Uncertain T's chassis without the body, and there is no driveshaft, only a U joint between the trans and the differential, and no rear suspension really-just some short steel plates attatched to the rear end like a drag car would be.
The Monogram model kit of it is always for sale on EBAY it seems.
