Check out Carter caves state park Bill. Just a short trip up the road. Beautiful place with a lot to do. I finish up on the 2nd and don't come back to work until the 10th, so if you roll in early, we'll go break bread together.

My gauges are almost done. I am going to be able to keep my mechanical gauges hooked up as well. I am using a Classic Instruments '40 Ford dash panel/cluster. Looks original with the addition of the tachometer. It came with all the sending units. I'm also replacing fuel tank as mine has a leak near the top. Might not get that done for this weekend, but will be done before Lloydfest. I have had my coupe for 2 and half years. It has 289, C4 and 8 inch rear on parallel leafs. I drive it as much as possible and have done a hundred miles round trip in one day, so I don't think I will have any problems.

Bill, it'll be nice seeing you again and also meeting some new guys and gals. Ron

I'm still hoping that Clarence will be done and back in my possession by then. Help me keep my fingers crossed. It's been over 5 years since I was able to drive it. If I can get to Lloydfest that will be its maiden voyage after extensive renovations.

  4. Thank You Lloyd!

Been to Carters Caves twice...Once as an 11 year old kid & again in the late 90's/ early "00's & loved it both times but the 2nd time there was an infection in the bats that had the caves closed to the public for I think that whole season. Great food at the lodge & great fishing in the lake.

I will let you know when we get down & would be glad to meet for dinner (our treat) before the festivities start!!!

    God Bless
    Bill

Hell yeah! What he said ^^^ lol... ordered shirts today. Pretty cool design I think, we'll see when he sends me the draft. Don't forget, if you have a couple of parts to sell or swap, bring em!

Here's a shirt draft from commercial signs, he's our local shirt guy and one of the Lloydfest sponsors... I told him to change the shirt to say "a traditional hotrod revival" 20230905_165949.jpg 20230905_165930.jpg

Really appreciate all the hard work you are putting into this Lloyd! Endless calls to sponsors, negotiating with the Race Park, lining up food truck(s), the shirts, dreaming up poker run route with stops, etc, etc, etc. I've been poopin peach pits edgeways trying to get my engine squared away. I really want to drive my truck but if it's not in the cards I will drive something else and be there next year in the style of which I am accustomed.
Thanks again for all your efforts.

Rolling right along. Steve asked the address of the track, it's the I-64 Motorplex, 674 Wells Road, Owingsville Ky. Gates open at 5. I'll be around somewhere though. If you have any questions you can get me at 606-336-1997

Hey guys, I know that Bill and his wife are rolling into town on Thursday, seems that somebody else mentioned arriving early, if that's the case, let me know, we'll burn steaks at my place on Thursday night and tell stories. Just to clarify, the pig roast deal fell through, many factors involved, but it just wasn't possible. I still might fry some fish but I'm not sure, so much other stuff to get in order. Food trucks all backed out on me. My firefighters union is gonna sell homemade corndogs, and the track concession stand sells dogs and burgers and fries. I promise there'll be food available. Plus things can change for the good by then. Anyway, Lloydfest 2023 is a week away! Looking forward to meeting new friends and hanging out with my old friends. Let me know if you're gonna be around Thursday though, we'll build us a bonfire :D

We're leaving Wednesday at O-dark thirty, hoping to be there same day. Steaks sound good on Thursday.
Got new fuel tank in '40 today, will finish it up tomorrow and have loaded on trailer by Monday. Really getting excited about this event.

We are staying at an AirBnB in Mt. Sterling about 15 miles from you. We don't have another Motor Home yet but are going to look at one in South Carolina on our way home from LloydFest.

Sherry and I are also staying at an AirBnB in Mount Sterling.

See y'all Friday afternoon/evening; probably evening.

Google Maps says 7 hours and 11 minutes from my house to Owingsville. Add in a meal or two, gas stops, and potty breaks and we're looking at 8 1/2 to 9 hours actual trip time.

b-t-w; does anyone know of road construction or other delays in Louisville or Lexington that I should avoid?

They're blacktopping 64 out of Lexington into Winchester, but it's not bad

Would it be worth it to drop down to US-60 from Lexington into Winchester? Or just more trouble than it's worth?

That's what me and Ashley do, you can get back on 64 at the 101 ramp.

    Thanx man.

Maybe we should just take 60 all the way to Mt. Sterling. It goes within a half block of where we're staying anyway.

    Lloyd,

You and I are going to get along famously. I was wondering what the H E double hockey sticks you were doing up at 1:15 am. You must be just like me. I almost never get to bed before midnight. Last night it was after 4:00 am.
