I guess I just feel it's up to us old timers, have a responsibility to correct those who aren't aware of the correct terminology. It isn't meant to put anybody down. It's just meant to educate.
I think Rare Bear ended up in Ellwood City, PA. It ended up in a huge muscle car collection in north west Pa. Don Fizelle (spl.) had the collection. I have pictures of his shop somewhere. Our car club was allowed to go through his assortment of cars. Truly amazing.
Interesting, I grew up in area from late 40’s until today, with short periods in other locations. Would have been 8 years old when this picture was taken and probably rode on this ferry although I can’t recall. Bit of trivia for any interested, the Coleman Bridge was nearing completion just to right when the above picture was taken (bridge not in picture); it opened to traffic just three months after this picture was taken in May of 1952. See below picture that shows Coleman Bridge with center swing span open and Navy destroyer passing through the open span and the ferry still in operation. Don’t know date this picture was taken, but with bridge looking complete and no cars seen stopped on bridge with span opened, I suspect it could have also been taken before May of 1952
If you look at the back glass on the '59-'60 Impala more closely it is not the same as the '61. The '61 Impala glass that carried over to the '62 Bel Air drops down much more on the sides compared to the earlier glass. It is the sides of the glass that gave the bubble top label to the later cars.
