@Countn'Carbs Dave, looks like a pic of your car is being used to help sell Chinese headlights. Don't know if Ebay will do anything if you notify them.....just thought you'd want a heads up. Met you at the Dirt Drags a time or two.
Photos belong to the person who took the photo an not the person who owns the car. If the person who posted the add didn't get permission from or pay the photographer for the use of the photo the photographer has legit copyright infringement complaints but the car owner has no say in it.
I would think the fact that his headlights are not the ones being sold might be false advertising. Im betting his are original not knock offs.
That may construed as false advertising but it has nothing to do with the owner of the car. That is The peddler of the part using a "stock" photo and paying for it's use or snagging the photo offthe net because their headlights kind of look like the ones in the photo or they may actually be those headlights if you look close enough and actually notice that they look too new to match the rest of the car. Still the car owner has not bitch or say unless he took and posted that photo.
The Ole Hotrod I have made a CD cover for 50s tunes...I believe that came about before I owned it, probably without authorization (my assumption)...I just thought it added a little provenance... Maybe Countin can score some buckets...Its real easy to right clic save these days...those stock photos aren't cheap either...or Countin authorized it...might be a friend... @Joe Blow...good eye I definitely know that ride...I coincidentally saw it tonight in a Thread...
Who knows? They could be the same buckets. Head light seller might have bought the car. Might be a different car. Owner of car might be his buddy. Ya just never know.
Interesting. and thank you for bringing this to my attention @Joe Blow. I'm not running the headlights that are in the Wuhan ad. I originally wanted E&J's on it but ended up putting a set of gennie Guides on it and they are still on it today. If I'm not mistaken, that picture was taken by Scott Lachenauer at the first Hot Rod Dirt Drags. Here's a better shot of the headlights and not sure how that works with someone using Scotty's picture for advertising but I'll pass it along to him as well.
A case of almost look likes but-----. Looking through adds for 7 inch Dietz "style" headlight bucket housings there several China adds using hot rods that probably don't have the lights in the adds on them. eBay item number:175740613227 eBay item number:234931975986 eBay item number:304838256582 eBay item number:334937695917
If you wanted to be nasty, you could message the seller and ask if the lights they are selling are the same as the ones in the picture. If they reply "yes", order a set, then get back to Ebay and hit them with a "item not as described" complaint. Usually the knock-off seller will be forced to send a refund (if it is a low-value item), and they will let you keep the item. I have had this happen when something that had been sent was not what the seller's specs claimed (wrong size, different voltage, etc.)
I reported a seller from Queens NY that was selling counterfeit gun parts. I never heard back from eBay, but noticed that the item was taken down later in the week.
Anybody really think that the Chinese who (probably) stole the pic off the internet, and are using it to sell thier crap counterfeit lights, REALLY give a rat's ass about the photog getting paid, the owner's feelings, or some complaint filed through Feepay's system? If you do, then you have a really funny sense of humor. Just sayin'.....Roger
Personally, I don't buy any Chinese products. I stand with all the Americans we lost in the pandemic!
