did you notice his arm out the left door also ? You are not the only one, - it’s been around for a while now……..
See my reply below. This^^^^^ A real racer knows when to lift or better yet, not fuck around with a High HP car on an unprepared, UNSAFE surface. These types of "events" are always one step away from killing someone.
I talked with Don Garlits about this a few Years back , No prep is No different then racing Until Mid 60s before Glue , Smokers 1320 feet ,,, Im affiliated with a dragstrip really a few , see / stand beside many many cars in a month, I m pretty sure the 55 on good day does not /did not run 85 mph in 1/8 (Slow) Now Look @ your D-D'er You Jump in it hit interstate 70-80 mph With Air bag , cross seat belt , you might think I'M safe , Not really ,,, Or how about Motor cycle , Every day we do Dum A$$ things Like put a Liquid in & all it needs is a Static Spark""Bad Day"
Well, try to explain it away but you are wrong. This vid is as bad as some jackass in a modern Stang leaving a Cars & Coffee and getting on it. Plus, there was no way he had anything more than a lap belt on, if that. Shame on the promotors and participants
Drag Radial s Class , 275 60 15 many ,many 180 plus & there is a record of over 200 , I think 220 In 1/4 Door slammers , @ One of out law tracks hear 140 on No prep 1/8 Drag Radial , these tracks around since 50s Very narrow 4 foot from Single center line to the grove .
Amen brother! I bet none of those unsanctioned street races you see on YouTube have any insurance not to mention a bunch of idiots that can’t drive! Recipe for disaster!
This is the reason why I’m installing a 6-point bar over the winter…and the track management also gave me a stern warning also.
This is a total lost for everyone who worked on that car but a gain for those who only watch this in real time or just in the short film. One thing that I notice was that for the few aircraft accidents and auto accidents (racing - street or on the strip) the driver will always take a look at the A/C or auto he just had a accident in, not that this is a bad thing, just my viewpoint. Makes me wonder if he built the car or just paid cash.
Uhhh ? ? ? say what ? ? ? .... the A/C or auto... ? air conditioning? My first thought were "the driver is just a dip sh*t" .
A-C = Air Craft ,, It's amazing to me how everybody think Dip shits or dumb A$$es, I think we all are dum A$$es , If where using other then feet & legs ,
I hope the guy was ok. Because he walked away doesn't mean that everything was good. A body in shock goes through a lot and can mask the injuries. Yes, a person can walk with a broken back.
The belts in my Ford, under the car I use parts bucket thick (5/16") front end washers and the floors are good. Also something stout inside the car and grade-8 bolts and nuts. I torqued them too.
This is just awful to watch and I've seen in before, but I wonder why he just doesnt "get out of it". The guy in the 70-1/2 Camaro was very squirely too. Looks like he was lucky as well.
Fender washers won't keep a bolt from pulling through the floor in a good collision. A large plate that distributes the force across a larger section of the floor might.
I don’t think it’s rebuildable , you’ll never be able to remove the smell and solids for hidden areas of the car .
1/8" thick... ? Nah... I used old thick front end washers, 3" diameter at least. In hindsight, if I had to do another installation, I'd be doing a more serious job with something welded from both sides and more substantial.
those were the best ones I saw in my quick search. 4" square, I think rounded corners may have been better. there were others that were like a 3 X 2 with a bolt welded on, they looked thicker and the edges were rolled. most were just thin washers.
It's not the thickness of the plate, the floor is much thinner. It's the size of the plate to spread the load across the floor.
