...this is vintage hotrod in Ontario back in the day...without a doubt there was a real mix of cool going on both sides of the border back then influencing and shaping the grand excellence of the hotrod scene back then...love it!!!

...funny story...I was at a local cruise and sat the future front fenders on the tires for those that might have interest...fast forward I was chatting with a friend after the show was over and we were about 100ft away and a couple young fellas in a Tuner car were looking the Ole Hotrod over quite extensively...even with a cell flashlight...they waited out my yapping with my friend and I engaged in conversation...they were into the vintage look and we chatted on for quite some time about what this ride represents and it's plausible postwar (WW11) beginnings to what it is now...sorta circa 1963/4ish...

I talked Bonneville/El Mirage and one pointed to his So-Cal t-shirt...

Anyways I started the car and after 20 or so minutes of warmup...I was getting ready to leave and picked the fenders off the tires...

Didn't they say, "We were wondering how you attached those, they were so tight to the tires"...that was good for a chuckle...

Anyhow...yeah long winded, but it's good to see the younger set still intrigued and admiring the vintage past...

I did say that you work, save up your dollars and buy perhaps a T Roadster as they're cheaper than a Deuce and that's how it happens...not as easy as the good ole days but it is what it is...

Secondly I said, if you really are into vintage Hotrod check out the Hamb...H...A...M...B...it's full of stuff like this...goes hand in hand really.

 

...I jumped the gun a bit and did some abrading in steps from 320 to 1500/2000 and was pretty surprised to see the similarities between bare steel and aluminum...I see polished steel with clear in the future...that or silver paint but I like polished steel better...the braces would also suit a polished look or marroon with pinstripes as well...to follow the theme...just thinking out loud...

...wide, wide, whites eh!!...I thought of AU when I saw this Coupe but nuh uh...BC...I am always amazed at how the looks bounced back and forth between continents back in the day...the power of magazines, travel, allied participation, trade, so many reasons really...fenders really compliment this Hotrod...darn lucky guy I'd say...wish it was in my garage...then I'd have two...

His front fenders are fairly recent addition...well...sorta recently new additions...

He did a nice job on fitting them and they look pretty spiffy...

I like what you fellas get up to over there...that's a pretty unique Sedan and it sits real nice...I was thinking the skull reminds me of one of Norm G's shifter knobs...

 

I was thinking the skull thing is way over done - moves towards the rat rod world

 

Surprisingly it's a lot older than we imagine...spider webs, shrunken heads, skulls, the grim reaper, the devil...these all had vintage origins at varied times in the Hamb period...

Doesn't mean you have to approve and many don't but there are connecting dots and the more modern movements have taken things forward to another level many are not fond of...I'm minimally open to that as well...for me it has to reach back to capture my roving eye...

Glowing coupe 1965

 

Here is one that had cycle fenders for many years but when we went sports car racing they said no cycle fenders in C sports car class so the fenders were attached to the frame but retained tubing supports. Then they changed the rules so the area between the tire cover and body had to be covered. A small piece of .020 aluminum and some pop rivets fixed that. The SCCA was constantly harassing the hot rods that wanted to road race. This car won so many races they finally told me "no more trophies" but you can keep racing.

 

I was always wondering how the Ole Hotrods did in those events...pretty damn good by the sounds of it...that looks a fierce contender...what a great looking team there Pete...





...Pete did you ever meet these in competition...This may have been in other classes of racing however I believe pavement was their playground...

Yes, thank you, it's on my website, www.trolls.quack.net, it started as a pile of steel, I built the truck, others finished and coloured it. My work was from scratch.

 

...Another Harley Fendered Hotrod rare but one of several I've noted over the years...this is a very well thought out mounting utilizing either the wheelcover or a pass through to the spindle for added support likely nessesary for this bulkier fender...

I'm curious if the Rodder ran cycle tires up front to enable the fender to be positioned properly to the eye...

...the ole Harley fronts were probably plentiful back then being discarded for the rebel look back in the day...

This is a New England Hotrod shared by Hamber @flatheadtommy who was surrounded by that good ole Cool Cars and Square Roll Bars...

Got this axle laying around with fixed fenders welded to the backing plates.

Some wrecker drive did a handy job on one of the fenders.
Someone needs to come get this thing, I'll never use it.

 

That sounds like a great deal @saltflats...and the axle has a real nice flow to it...and a Bobbed single fender...

You heard it here Hambers...help Flats clear his yard and bolt on some history...sounds like a real good price too...better than the good ole days...

Looks like a hairpin type, the kind with the top bar flat, bottom curved...pretty short at that...agreed very sharp looking Hotrod...

...Circa 1962...Dean Probst's Hotrod/Custom...it's had quite the walk...his heart and soul went into it and he let her go...what's that saying, if you love something, set it free...admirable really...and he passed it on...

I see that hairpin mount, looks pretty “spindly” off frame but if cross steer seems early year. Nice car
