Technical Bobby Walden Speed Shop Video Chopping a '32 3 Window

  1. I'm not sure this has been posted before...a buddy told me about the Bobby Walden Speed Shop youtube series Chopping a '32 3 Window. He (my buddy) is a very accomplished do everything type of builder with a number of very high quality recognition and awards to his credit. He said, the series was extremely well done and that he learned a lot from it. That was all I needed to hear...so I dove in. It's a bit long (20 parts...I watched a few videos each night for almost a week). Wow!!! Lots of very interesting information, an innovative way to plan and go through the chop process, fantastic metal working tips, welding, tips and tricks etc.!! I thought some of you guys might also enjoy the series. Note, after watching each video part, the next in the series will automatically queue up.

Watched that particular segment some time ago, & he indeed is extremely talented particularly on the flat panels & the sedan roofs that can be even more challenging, unfortunately it has been said he is a one-man operation as of late. Note his comments about the use of a raw hide hammer!

  3. Yup, use of a raw hide hammer for shrinking was one of the tips I'd never seen before.

  4. About 10 years ago I didn't have much luck finding a rawhide hammer. Admittedly I didn't try very hard.

  5. I found and bought a couple at swap meets over the years and must admit, haven't used them much. But, now I know they have a new use.

After seeing the videos, I too bought a rawhide hammer. But have yet to use it.

The videos are great and show a level I'll never even get close to. But it sure doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks for the heads-up on Walden doing YouTube!

A few years ago I attended one of Bobby Walden’s two day metalworking classes, very enlightening couple of days. Learned a lot about moving metal and truly gained respect for how a professional metal man works their craft into an art piece.

The best two day learning investment I’ve ever made. If you are looking for a hands-on metal working class; signup with Walden. You will go home with helpful knowledge you will use daily.

Now off to watch more Walden YouTube, just the Best.
