That's probably one of the very few Lucas products that not only worked well, but still do! I completely rewired my old '37 Austin when I built my gasser, and planned on installing a new turn signal and headlight switch, as both were Lucas. But I decided to open both up since they're actually made to be rebuildable. I discovered the internal contacts, and mechanisms were like new, so I lubed everything up with GE silicone electrical lube, and reassembled them. That was a decade ago, and I've still not had a single issue with the turn signal or headlight switches.

All the “cool” old ones don’t have enough wires to be able to separate the brake lights from the turn signals, is my understanding. This one…available new from many vendors does. Has anyone modified it to make it not look so new?

  3. I used an old Parker switch; kind like the football shape of it. It is a 4 wire switch so I used relays with it. Lately the pilot bulb keeps losing contact; probably gonna stick an led in there. The old T shirt laced on the wheel did the trick and kept me from messing it up when building.

in my roadster that is gone . it is just one of the cheap chrome ones that I blasted spray bombed then put a matching knob on thought it made it look less noticeable & older. I have been meaning to do the switch in my F1 but have not got to it turn signal.jpg

I chose the Lime Works signal. I've been using it for twelve years without issue.

That is similar to a '55.2-59 Chevy truck OEM one so another potential source. I have one similar to the one shown in post 22 in my '57 Chevy truck now and it works fine. Going to be replaced with an OEM style one tho so I can have self-canceling.

Yes, you are correct. They are the same for the '54 cars. I put one on my '54 truck and it is great.
Self-canceling is a nice convenience to have. Bob
