Nice but even better with a small "C-pillar" which would also create rear quarter-windows. The side picture shows the need IMOO.

 

Another local attempt. Citroen Traction Avant can be had for 30000 euro. Thats a lot of cash for a Citroen. FWD means you can extend as far as you like.

 

@34 GAZ : the Ford would have worked if they's have used coupe or coupe-like B-post/rear window which somone with skills could do. The Toyota engine I - as a fellow European where gasoline is now €1.8 per litre (Austria) - can understand. I would not do it but unfortunately it is what it is. Not sure about the Traction Avant though, it can only be explained if it was originally designed to cart around long and bulky objects. But then people have been doing the same with Olds Toronados in the US for years...

I know what was meant by "Cars made into trucks", cars that were modified to look and be trucks. But it reminded me of the good old 70's in MD. I got my license in 72 and it was still legal to tag a car as a truck. Cars had to be inspected, but trucks didn't. One friend had a 56 Crown Vic with a straight axle and a 429. It wouldn't pass inspection. All he had to do was take the back seat out and the trunk lid off. I don't remember if he had to take the car to DMV, take a Pic to DMV, but he was issued a "Truck" tag. He got a ticket for driving it on Kensington Parkway, where no trucks were allowed. Another friend drove a delivery "Truck" for a parts store. It was a station wagon with truck tags. She got a ticket on the same Parkway with it. Trucks paid a lot less for insurance, so lots of delivery shops would tag station wagons as trucks. The good old days!

 

I remember those days. When they started inspecting trucks, to avoid it, I bought tags 6 months early for an El Camino I was building. The wife of a guy I knew used to drive his truck on the parkways all the time. "But Officer it's not a truck it's a pick-up."

It seems strange to have bumpers front and rear that don't protect the front and rear.
And that tailgate looks hard to open.

If you are referring to the Capri, it's a historical custom that was being restored. Practicality wasn't an issue when it was built.
