Winding up Wednesday:

 

That car was racing with us, the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modifieds until this spring.
In fact, the tech stickers are still on the cowl as is the Club decal.

Before that it raced with the Mid-State Stock Car club. I rode around the pits after a vintage at Mid-State Speedway when I very little.

I was very confused at the time because I had never seen a racecar with doors that opened!

A few oldies I snapped yesterday and today.


Oldsmobile, seems incredible that this car is from the same manufacturer that made the 'Curved Dash' buggy just 10 years before.


This has a nice 'in use' look about it.

Weather was good? If you like hot weather and searing sunshine- perhaps. I think the hot weather held the crowd down, or at least encouraged a lot of people to congregate in the shade. At least in the green field, foot traffic was way down. Today was my worst selling day, from Wednesday, in 20 years. But tomorrow’s forecast looks nearly ideal.

 

Probably not the weather anyone would choose for walking round a swapmeet. The journey here was around 3500 miles for me; listening to some Australian and Kiwi (New Zealand) accents around the show yesterday and today tells me that I really don't count as any kind of long distance traveller. But despite the sticky temperature and limited shade, there's no other way to find parts like this. Thanks to Ashley in the Green Field for this reasonably priced purchase for my 1928 Chevy four banger.

 

After some of the years slogging through the mud in the rain there, I'll take 85 and sunny. It's tough to buy anything when it's covered with a blue tarp.

 

I'm surprised that no one has started reproducing these.

Every time I see pictures like these or hear stories of what was found I tell myself, next year. Someday, next year will come.
