  2. Thanks...great job!

This was one sharp rig when dad (pictured) built them both in 1968, sharp eyed viewers will spy the triple-whitewall tires mounted on chromed Buick wheels.

The driver of this car and my dad's partner in Brooklyn Speed & Machine also owned a Buick dealership, hence the basis for the inception of the funny car, the trailer wheels and I'm certain a big bad Buick wagon moving the operation down the road.

    A little trivia.

HOT ROD photographer Bob D’Olivo was at the 1963 NHRA Nationals, the first race that utilized a countdown starting system.
    Here is the story.
"The origins of the original countdown starter are somewhat murky (says Wikipedia, anyway), but according to the September 1963 issue of HOT ROD, the new starting system was the brainchild of NHRA Eastern Division Director Ed Eaton and was assembled by Lew Bond, an electronics technician based in Maryland. The name of Bond's company, Drag-Tronics, appeared on the equipment when it was set up at Indy".

The photo shows the late, great Bobby Vodnick up against Garlits at Indy, 1963. Vodnick, in the Kenny Hirata/Phil Hobbs car won Top Gas when Don red lighted.

In 1961-62, Jerry Tyson (the east coast Chrondek rep) built a starting system that had a random duration yellow bulb, that was activated by the starter once both cars were manually staged (no staging beams). It did not have a handicap start function. If you broke the ET start beam before the green came on, a red light indicated the foul start. This was used at the South Florida Timing Association events, that were primarily contested at Master Field and Amelia Earhart Field in the Miami area.
