Sounds like fun was had by all. And thanks for sharing the event with us slackers that didn't make it.
Guess now we have a little less than a year to prepare for next year. Maybe time will slow down for me so I can make the trek next year.

Friday nights are test & tune, grudge race kind of stuff. Usually if there are enough cars, they'll have a trophy race too. Yeah he won't let you run if you're leaking or falling apart on the track, it's a safety thing, plus they have to clean up after you. Saturday is always the big day. Next weekend is the Halloween race, it's 3 days. Always something going on. I usually go run my car for fun on Friday night, no door glass, sometimes I wear a helmet, sometimes I put my lap belt on.

Sherry and I got home this evening and I promptly slept through an old black and white movie. And now it's bedtime. You guys wore me out. Ah, to be young again.

Lloyd, thanx for a great weekend. See ya next year.

That black Pontiac will run 4.50 on the juice. Street outlaws were running here and called him out. When they run, they turn the display boards off, doesn't show their time at the end of the track, but it shows in the tower. So when they ask Tim to run, he politely told them they don't want any of his car lmao. They were closer to 5 seconds.

What a great weekend. I hope everyone made it home safely, see you all and more HAMBers next year!
Anyone else notice how uncluttered @High test 63 s shop is?

  12. You, my friend, are hard core! It was great riding around in the roadster and then partying with you.

IMG_9809.jpeg IMG_9806.jpeg The shot with my left headlight; notice one of the screws is missing. What's not obvious is one of the others is backed out 3 turns, and the third was not tight! I blame this on some of the rough concrete repairs on I75. About knocked my fillings out a few times, see the Willys still rides on its very tired 84 year old leaf springs and anything bigger than a pie plate causes a 4 wheel suspension limit BANG! IMG_9805.jpeg Lunch OTW up in beautiful Blairsville, Ga. (before the rain). IMG_9801.jpeg
These pics are out of order, but I'll comment here: Lloydfest was a success! I had never ventured far in my beater Willys, but it's been my run around town, go to work car for years. I liked the idea of finally meeting you HAMB brothers, so I loaded up all manner of tools and equipment and headed North! The car performed well as I motored along my meandering scenic route through the north Georgia mountains. It was all going great until it started spitting rain on me near Sweetwater Tennessee. My Willys has a single, single speed wiper that always worked, but had a bit of trouble staying on the glass at interstate speeds. Well, I had a conversation with the wiper as the rain got a bit heavier. I said to the wiper, "Just hang on for a little while buddy, and we'll drive out from under these clouds." Well the wiper took a different interpretation of "little while", cuz about fifteen minutes later on I-75, my sole wiper swished left and went out of sight! I slowed up the next available exit to evaluate. My wiper was still attached, but parked up on the roof, and not moving. Flip the switch on, off, on, nothing. So I take a look at the fuses, all good. Well, I know clear weather is ahead, so I wiped the glass and hit the road. Probably not the safest way to go, but no worse than a lot of the fog I've been through.

I sure had a good time. Lloyd is the real deal, he is the type of guy that would give the shirt off his back- he literally gave one to me! Thanks Lloyd! Great bunch of guys and gals, the local scenery was beautiful, and the old Willys hung together for over 900 miles round trip, despite I-75 trying to disassemble it countless times. Would highly recommend!

Thanks Steve, but you're a hero to me.
You're Willys is time capsule and defines "hot rod". Am glad you made it home with no major issues.

Glad everyone had fun, sounds like a blast. If anyone is hanging around KY for the week, the Boonsboro Boogie is this coming weekend. Always a great show.

Sounds like you all had a great time! Sorry I missed it but I guess I was also hanging out with a bunch of HAMBers at the Gathering as well. Maybe next year I can make the trip to Lloydfest.

  21. sounds like a lot of fun, definitely making it out next time. next year my car will have lap belts. would be funny to find out what its quarter mile actually is. wanna bet its like 17 seconds?

  22. Randy, you are the toughest and most dedicated one of all of us! I’m still laughing about how you labeled Lloyd’s beef jerky!

    @anthony myrick,

Please post pix of your shirt.

edit: oops; back in post 895 we can see the front. How 'bout the back?

edit #2: Now that I'm home and seeing this on a computer screen instead of a tiny phone screen it's all different. If you go back to post #900 you'll see that I've deleted the duplicates. Also on this screen I can read the nametags.
