Ya know, I was introduced to wings in the mid 80’s, man that was messy and never seemed to get a full bellyful.
I’ve since resigned to burgers and fries;)

I might have missed it here, but we need to see the El Camino upholstery. I think Lloyd has a friend that gives him the buddy price on recovering seats.

If I hadn't had my head where the sun don't shine I'd have taken pix myself.

Wicked. Just wicked. (sorry for the pathetic pun)

Kudos to Ashley, though. I really like it.

Can I assume that's an original Elco seat; with Ashley's magic performed?

My wife and I got back in our home town around 7pm Mon night. We stopped to get something to eat, and when we got home, I promptly fell a sleep in the chair.
After I woke up, I had to catch up on the 19 pages this thread grew since Friday evening. I don't have internet on my flip phone, and the small screen on my wife's smart phone it too small.

We had a great time at Lloyd Fest 1. There will be a few changes for next years event. We stayed about 30 miles from the drag strip, which doesn't sound like its very far for those of us that live in the flatter lands, where people know how to make straight roads. That trip down there was nearly an hour drive. In KY, there is no such thing as a straight section of road, and there s no such thing as a flat road. We have discovered that we really don't like those curvy, hilly roads in the dark of night. My truck has great headlights, but they don't light up the road around the "s" curves and over the next hill. Those roads that are great fun in the daylight are not great fun in the dark. Next year we will be staying much closer. We left as soon as the sun set (didn't want to add driving into a setting sun into the fun mix) so that was before the real party started on both Friday and Sat nights.

What a great bunch of guys and gals. It was fun matching names with faces, even though I probably won't remember many names. The poker run was fun, that little store was very cool, and having all the hot rods parked outside, in front of it was cool. My wife managed to find something to buy.
My wife took a few pictures on her phone, and I got a few pictures on my camera I'll post tomorrow night.

We drove down from the north west corner of IL, on the interstate would have been around 600 miles through Chicago, or 650 miles going no where near Chicago, but we only traveled about 10 miles on the interstate the entire trip, and that was coming home so we didn't have to cross that nasty long bridge on the old state highway.
My wife found an app on her phone where she can get directions without using "Toll Roads" and without using "Highways" (Interstates). Those road choices can be very interesting. Anything from a 4 lane state highway, to roads that look like trails between farm land (usually hard surface, but not very smooth sometimes). This app added about 75 more miles then using the interstate. If you really don't want to do the Interstate, and you don't mind a slower pace through the real country and towns, it might be fun for you.
I'll do a proper update tomorrow.

  18. No worries, I wanted to be there very badly. It would have been great to line up next to Steve's 57.:)

Glad to hear you made it safely Gene. Great to meet you.
I would have loved to stay on Sunday but my son and wife needed to be home for work yesterday.
Yes those Kentucky back roads are a little scary at night. My son was still running 6 volts and my original lenses on the 37 are not the best either. Would have loved to share some moonshine around the fire with everyone. But the girls were getting cold and those roads don’t have streetlights down there. :)
I’m glad the girls were open to ride along.
We used our maps app with “no highways” too. 7 hrs. Yes on occasion you do end up running beside a farmers corn field between routes. Took a more direct route North from Morehead going home. Same traveling time but not as many cornfields.

  23. Laura & I got home Monday evening. We stayed till Monday morning, I took her to a couple of antique shops & just spent a nice day together followed by an enjoyable dinner at the Cattleman's in Morehead with @John B & his woman Jesse.

It has been said many times before in this thread, but THANK YOU @Lloyd's paint & glass & Ashley for all the work you put into this "Hamber Hangout". My only regret was not getting back to the track Saturday before the group picture!

Made so many new friends & saw a couple that I had met before. I may or may not have a black male picture of a certain Mod doing something next to his car...Could come in handy in the future!:p

Spending that time hanging out around the fire with friends was GREAT for the soul & I still can't help smiling even now thinking about it. Yes I had a minor headache the next morning, but it was worth it. I am humbled & grateful that my wife Laura & I were accepted by Lloyd, Ashley & the group. That made it easy to relax, be goofy & enjoy the ribbing. Don't know when I laughed so hard & Lloyd "Big Daddy"..... I don't know which was better, having my picture taken in your El or having you blow in my ear in the other picture. LMAO!!! What a Great Bunch of Guys to hang out with!!!

Only posting 2 pictures....Me & Lloyd being goofy & since it can't be a fish story if a picture is included, I took 10 minutes before dark on Saturday & caught a couple of little Largemouth Bass in the river that runs along the track property

    God Bless
    Bill

    Eh?

  25. Skip the tickets.
Just do, "Gimmie a Sawbuck and write your name and a number between 1 and 100 on this here piece of paper. Pick another number and gimmie another Sawbuck. I got more little pieces of paper".
The closest guess to the preselected number wins. Ties split the pot. 3-way ties split 3-ways, etc.
This is almost as traditional a way as 'eeny, meeny, miney, moe'.

  26. Bill, you and Laura were a lot of fun to hang out with. I’m glad i got to meet you two. I hope to see you both at the next event where ever that may be.

I don’t think Randy would have like those little pieces of paper. Do they even make paper as long as the el Camino. :)

  28. Laura & I feel the same way about you Scott!

So much fun with you & Randy at the end of the night. Hopefully you will keep that video under wraps, because apparently that many libations make me forget song lyrics! LMAO:eek:

Scotty sent it to me, it's a national treasure!! But I thought Billy Squire sang lonely is the night? Now you have plenty of time to get one of them 12 cars ready for 2024!
