The weekend around Oct 6-8 works for us, but pick a date, and we will do our best to be there. The weather this time of the year can be anything, can't base what next years weather will be on this years weather was.
Like someone said earlier, can't pick a date everyone will like, so pick what works for you.

Only took a few pictures, a couple just as we entered KY (pic 1 & 2), and the rest of pictures are 100_1061.JPG 100_1062.JPG 100_1063.JPG 100_1065.JPG 100_1066.JPG 100_1067.JPG 100_1068.JPG 100_1070.JPG 100_1071.JPG 100_1072.JPG 100_1069.JPG 100_1064.JPG of the hot rods that were at the 1sr stop on poker run. I did take a few pic of the 57 Chevy, but every time, someone stepped in the way, this one is the best I got.

    Lloyd,

You pick a date and I'll be there if I'm still above ground and not in a hospital.

I gotcha brother. Like enloe said, if it's hot out, it makes it miserable. The week before you guys came out was freaking beautiful!! Might just roll the dice and back it up a week. 55-60 at night would be wonderful lol. Learned a lot from this, now I have so many ideas for next year!!

I just told Ashley that next year will be much better, she said of course it will, my truck will be there lol. I told her that I'd say there will be more old cars there, and she said wouldn't it be cool to have about 50 or 60 cars in the poker run

I just got done crunching the numbers. I have not filled up the tank from the last stop yet, but it was another 200 miles, probably another 11-12 gallons and at IL prices, another $50. Not counting this last fill up, the little blue truck went 1343 miles and used just under 76 gallons of gas. We spent $267 (not counting this last tank full), and averaged 17.7 mpg over the 1343 miles. The highest mpg was 23.5 mpg (240 miles through IN), the lowest was running 132 miles around KY at 11.3 mpg (there were 2 tank fills of gas between the high and the low). We made 7 gas stops (plus that one more to go), when the gas gauge reached about the 1/4 tank level (all fill ups were between 9.7 gal and 11,7 gal). This was all off the Interstate, and very scenic driving.

Already looking forward to next year.

  6. @atch and I are already planning for the last leg of my trip next year from his house.

Glad to see Lloydfest was a success. I am sorry I missed the inaugural event but it just wasn't happening this year.
Planning to be there next fall

    Lloydfest 2024:

57 Fargo and I will be coming from Columbia, Missouri. We plan on Truckdoctor Andy joining us just east of Saint Louis.

Is there anyone else near I-70 (west of Saint Louis) or I-64 (east of Saint Louis) planning to attend that wants to join up with us?

  9. Many folks will wait & NOT attend the inaugural event, because they want to see if it is a success or a flop before they use their vacation time/entertainment monies on it.

With the Huge success of LLOYD-FEST 2023 & all the fun had by the folks that took the chance to come to the 1st one, I predict next years event (quoting Burt Gummer from Tremors II)......It is going to be BIG, really Big:p

    God Bless

Right on, Bill! But there's only one chance to attend the original. Glad to meet you & your lovely lady, Lloyd, Cob, and all the other hooligans. Happy anniversary to Ashley & Lloyd. From the perspective of this dude who doesn't drink anything stronger than grape Nehi, everyone was really laid back. Anyone concerned need not be.

  11. This just a guess but I have a feeling she’s the boss of you , right?

You're 100% correct Steve, this was about cool cars and the cool folks that enjoy them. Bringing a group together, hanging out with people that are similar to yourself. Just a big ol party where you can be yourself and relax. Nobody being disrespectful to my knowledge, if so it wasn't brought to my attention. It was a great bunch of folks talking cars, telling lies, and watching drag racing!! But I do apologize for not finding nehi! Crush grape was the best I could do! Lol

@atch, I live just east of Kansas City. I'm hoping to have my car together in time for next year. If so, I'd love to run with you guys.

  15. Great to meet you, your wife & cute little dog Steve.

Glad we got to hang out some & of course pet Mia.:p Your car is amazing as well. You are correct in that a lot of us were enjoying adult beverages. NOBODY was disrespectful or belligerent, just a whole bunch of bench racing, laughing, joking & fellowship of the car culture.

    God Bless

Sounds like a convoy . I'm in from mid mo. I-70 headed east .

  22. Is it just me, or are some of those photos around the campfire reminiscent of "Blazing Saddles"?

For those of you that have never been cruising the Interstate with a large convoy of cars, its not as easy as it sounds. it is fun if you can get it done, but the speed the convoy is moving, the gas stops, the food stops, and the bathroom stops can mess a large convoy pretty fast, especially traveling through a coupe of states. The larger the convoy, the more time it takes to get where you are going.

Years ago I was in a car club that did a lot of big shows together, it wasn't a bad deal if the full travel time was under about 5 hours, but much past that was troublesome. Meeting people along the way is really difficult, most people won't really want to sit and wait a couple hours for someone that got tied up. Take this as sort of a warning from someone that has done this before.

When I travel with groups we usally see who gets the shortest distance for gas . We adjust for that . It does take more time and stops . We adjust and go with it.
Some people will and some won't. I don't leave people behind.

That just looks like too much fun and reminds me a lot of the rod runs we used to go to in the 70's.

Back in the '60s, I made a long run with about 50 other bikers. Most of the Harleys had standard 3.75-gallon tanks, but this one dude had an all-out custom with a tank that held 7/10's of a gallon. At first it wasn't too irritating, but after the 4th stop in less than a hundred miles, we stuck him and his bike in the pickup that was following us. He putted around some when we got to our destination and then rode the pickup back home. Never saw that bike again.

I'd like to thank Enloe and Co. for bringing his Magazines. I know his operation takes effort to set up. I bought a couple handfuls, to flip through back at my hotel, which, combined with breakfast with The Oakfords (Roadster 1927) and Alan Purvis and Alyn (Alanp561) made the whole weekend a gearhead immersion. The tech articles in an old Rod and Custom are way better than flipping through channels on horrible TV.

Well better than a scene from “Broke Back Mountain “

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but this is a family site;)
