Many years ago I saw stacks of old street cars when Los Angeles replaced them with buses. They could been seen on the north side of Artesia Boulevard right where it had been extended and cut through the center of Old Carrel Speedway. The infield white paint tires were still there on the south side of the road. It was the dumbest thing the Transportation Dept ever did. The change was backed by GM (who made buses) and the rubber companies (who made tires) and the oil company’s (who made gasoline and diesel).
