I think I finally have time to start my build post! After getting hit by a car on my motorcycle I have a little free time to start this. Picked up the car in Vista California on the 28th of July 2023 not knowing what to look for in a project car other than what my co worker Lumpy 63 said I had my fingers crossed. IMG_6387.jpeg IMG_6394.jpeg Loaded up and heading south to lumpy 63s garage with nerves of doubt that I got a rust bucket. With lumpy 63 first sight on the falcon his exact words was “ you did good kid! “ IMG_6401.jpeg Took a couple people to push this little car into its spot where the project would begin! IMG_6398.jpeg IMG_6397.jpeg IMG_6399.jpeg 20230729_192652.jpeg The motor and trans was on the on August 1st and the chopping began to make space for SBC 350:cool:! And a 4in drop axle from Speedway. IMG_6429.jpeg IMG_6430.jpeg IMG_7238.jpeg IMG_7239.jpeg Shock towers removed and anything else we don’t need cut off to make this little falcon even lighter. Parts showing up on the daily and learning that lumpy 63 doesn’t waste any time sitting around as he rarely takes time to rest. With learning so much for this guy I feel so lucky to have met him through are full time job and to soak up as much knowledge as he has with building and restoring and racing these old cars!! IMG_6441.jpeg IMG_6439.jpeg IMG_6435.jpeg Subframe connectors tacked in place as we begin to measure out placement and location of the front axle. 20230817_174249.jpeg 20230824_170647.jpeg took just a few try’s to get the wheel where we wanted it but was well worth it. IMG_7240.jpeg IMG_7241.jpeg Starting to finally look like a hot rod! Small block was mocked up to start fabricating motor mounts and cross member. 20230828_164718.jpeg 20230828_164704.jpeg 20230828_164724.jpeg IMG_7242.jpeg Quickly moving forward I scored a complete Ford 9in rear end on Craigslist in Temecula Ca. We cut and narrowed it to fit. IMG_7260.jpeg IMG_7261.jpeg To be continued…

Cleaned up on the lathe, bead blaster and welded up! Ford 9in is ready to measure for new axle! IMG_6449.jpeg IMG_6450.jpeg IMG_6454.jpeg IMG_6456.jpeg Ordered the axles from Quick Performance and before we knew it they arrived! 20230901_191101.jpeg 20230901_191116.jpeg lumpy 63 was able to score a positraction and a set of 3.75 gears and assembly of the 3rd member was on 20230809_165123.jpeg 20230810_161050.jpeg 20230809_165446.jpeg

Well you lost my interest with the sbc swap. Doubtful I’ll be following the build.

  5. It's a good thing he got that stupidbaker truck out of there to make room for your car. Tell him to finish his 57. That car is going to be cool, like a "Rod Slinger" tribute. Keep up the good work.

  6. Built Ford tough with Chevy stuff!:D my buddy that's in a wheelchair has one of those conversation trucks that the whole side opens up. It's a Chevy, I asked if they do those conversions on the Ford trucks and he said "doubtful, the people that buy these can't walk!" Lmao!

Sorry you feel that way, the fact is this is a LOW budget build being done by a young man with incredible welding and fabrication skills but not much cash . We happened to have a fairly stout 350 at our disposal. If we would have had a stout sbf we would have used that. I think you might like how it turns out maybe next time he will use a ford engine.

  10. You're a badass man, and I have tons of respect for you. You're good to all of us here and you're a wealth of information. Can't wait to see this beast complete! Probably have to spit on Jeremy's teeth to get him to quit smiling!!!

  13. I like the concept, I like the enthusiasm, I like the inter generational connection, I like the five spokes. I would like to see the completion, not sure about that hydraulic jack on the concrete block. Take that right out of there to remove the temptation. If you can buy shiny new parts you can find some decent cribbing to hold that car up, we don’t want to lose any young or old talent in this hobby.

Car was not being held up with bottle jack , it was just used to support subframe connectors for welding:cool:

I initially liked @RmK57 post but what @lumpy 63 posted makes a lot of sense. I'm still a Ford in a Ford guy but to ignore what has the makings of a quality build post just because it has a sbc in it is nuts, at least from my point of view. I'll be following along but hoping next version will have a sbf in it. Maybe even a 2dr. wagon to take me back to my HS days.

why a SBF? it needs a big old Ford motor! unfortunately they cost a fortune, so a free 350 is the way to go in this case.

    Now........Dats A MAN !!!

Wish it was a Ford but......liking the build !!(so glad you didn't give it that "launch-to-the-moon stance" with the straight axle.)

True hot rod style! I love it. Falcons make great gassers, and budget build always turn out to have more character. The sbc in the engine compartment is a smart move. As parts are easier to come by and the budget is easier to adhere to.

That looks like the makings of a great ride:D. But dude, now you’re a Chevy guy you’re going to have to drink something better than Lite beer ;)

  22. Cool project, had a '63 sprint myself. The seats look like they will clean up nice. Is that something that stays or sells for good cash to a restorer ?

As far as the lite beer goes it was hot and I was in need of some favored water and lumpy 63 is watching his weight!

  24. So I have no experience in this what so ever, but those 460 motors out of old lincolns seem to be pretty plentiful, is that not an option? I don’t care about the Ford in ford battle, if it runs and drives and is paid for, that works in my books. Let my free schooling begin.
