With having a SBC donated to the build and lumpy 63 being a Chevy guy it was the way to go 20231004_171713.jpeg

With the front end finished up for the most part welded and painted and on to the rear 20230918_161714.jpeg 20230920_162512.jpeg 20230920_171635.jpeg 20230920_171648.jpeg IMG_6875.jpeg 20230922_163245.jpeg IMG_6878.jpeg

  5. What size rims and tires up front? Plans for the rear end?

While we were getting started on the rear of the car lumpy 63 was digging around his parts shed he donated a set of killer bucket seats 20230903_104531.jpeg so we pulled the rear bench seat and sold the front bench to help fund getting new foam and black vinyl living so close to the boarder off they went IMG_0619.jpeg

Very cool. I dig the car, the low buck build, and that you're doing it your way.

A SBC is a fine choice for a hot rod.

Thinking this would take weeks we started on the rear replacing the leaf spring bushings and get this 9in under the car IMG_6876.jpeg IMG_6877.jpeg out with the old rear end and ready for narrowed and fully rebuilt Ford 9in IMG_6930.jpeg IMG_6931.jpeg got the rim on to start laying out the lines to make some much needed over all design change of the body IMG_6934.jpeg 20230927_165239.jpeg 20230927_170431.jpeg going with higher line there was no turning back and with all of lumpy 63s wealth of knowledge I knew I could trust is judgement 20231003_150144.jpeg 20231003_152346.jpeg ready to mount the tire 20230928_161751.jpeg and now we have a roller! 20231003_152623.jpeg 71806537225__EAD28FED-2BBC-4894-8E49-AF026ED768DE.jpeg IMG_7106.jpeg

  16. You are very welcome! Your car is a much better place for them than in the cabinet in my garage.

Love the build. No roll bar yet. With no real frame, worry if front end will hold up to couple wheel stands from that hot Chevy. As for building a good 460; u can probably build 4 350s for the same $$$.

  19. Killer build. Loving everything you have done so far. Thunderbird seats are gonna look great. Can’t go wrong with your choice of power plant. Tie it all together with a cage and let the fun begin.

I look at this site as a buffet- if I like a thread I go back and get more... If I don't like it I don't get more.. But I don't tell the guy I don't like what he is doing. I happen to like what is going on with this- Keep it up! Good job, And don't worry about what some grumpy ol' SOB says...

  21. I was looking for a 429 or 460 for my car since we did so well with them in the stock cars. Even a decent 351 C core was hard to come by, then I needed all the brackets, transmission, etc. It would have added $6000 + and another 6 months to the build.

I had a line on a BOSS 351, someone looked at it (part of an estate settlement) and it was missing main caps and had sat out in the elements apart for a few years.

The 350 was an old stock car engine, mothballed since 1984, it wound up being an excellent core. The only thing I needed was the M20 4-speed. The rest I had on hand.

Lumpy 63 gifted a set of 60s Mickey Thompson valve cover which I bead blasted and sprayed a wrinkle black finish on and brushed off the top with a buffer to give it that old school shine IMG_7101.jpeg

Some saw a sneak peak of the motor but here are some more photos of the motor build lumpy 63 is the man when it comes to Chevy motors and he couldn’t just leave it be with flat top forged pistons and the it being a 4 bolt main lumpy 63 decided upgrade the heads with some aluminum Flotec 180cc heads 20230916_111919.jpeg 20230923_162315.jpeg trying to keep this thing period correct to it’s time we painted the heads and block 20230927_160844.jpeg wrapping up the motor with a new old stock Edelbrock manifold and of course a Holley 600 dbl pumper IMG_7275.jpeg and it was ready! 20231006_163732.jpeg 20231004_171719.jpeg 20231012_160905.jpeg

The build might slow down for a minute or two because the boy got pretty banged up on his Harley... I am picking away at little stuff , but I want him here to continue the build.
