a good number of who Zeltango follows are HAMB types, some are members here.

it would be interesting to see what a builder here could do with AI as a tool,
to take an AI generated traditional style and fix the bugs to create a real car.

 

True AI as discussed here happens in a box...no complex mechanical humanoid nessesary...

Getting that 2D visual into 3D and Physical presence is further technology beyond AI really...

Look at Ryan's videos he shared with me earlier...it's quite amazing...

I guess the Waterfall dash a Hamber was a primitive use of Digital technology to produce a physical part...

3d printing of Metal components is happening as well...

AI could possibly be attached to these machines to spit out Customized components as AI is really blended interpretations of millions of images and information...so...would say an AI Carburetor that looks like a 94 with 97 internal technology be possible and work...it might but not without some human ineration...

Let me say I am not in any way remotely experienced in this new fangled stuff but this is what I'm thinking is what's going on...

Here we are seeing it's ability to do 2D visual art...its obviously I believe in a 3D environment as well which is understandable but Artist's and Writers are a Target here and again why pay an them when Alexa can fulfill it...sad but true...

I have tried to get into graphic art as a career...pretty specialized now...I think it'll remain a dream really and nowadays I just have fun with it...

 

I'd drive that pink '58 Cad thing as is.
A lot them are a bit too heavy or bussy on the chrome badge/bright work IMO though.

In a few years, we'll be seeing "build threads" that are utterly convincing, but aren't real. We'll need AI moderators to weed out the AI imposters on the site.

Heck, we'll probably have forums (fora?) that are unabashedly run my AIs, but have a "human" category which will have to be closely monitored by the AI moderators to keep out the AIs. Because humans won't be able to, as we'll be a pale shadow of the skill and artistry of the AIs.

But for now, those hands! Probably the faces are so good because a lot of money and effort are going into facial recognition, but little to none to hand recognition. But I bet fingerprint generation is excellent.

Easy to change...tell the bot you like it but make it narrower or remove the chrome nameplates...be picky the bot can take it...it seems very controllable and it works anytime you want...and you only pay for the program that might even be free...so just your Internet costs...no expensive Artist...

Could be the AI technology having shortcomings as alluded by others in other posts here...

After reading every word of every post: I'm banging on 80 yrs. old and the end of the highway isn't that far away, but I am still trying to be cool and understand the future. When personal computers were first available for small businesses during the 90's, I couldn't understand how they could be helpful in the art galley I was part of, however in a short time, it became necessity for every part of our operation. I tried to avoid the future. But just the fact that Ryan stated the HAMB on a computer is the reason we are all here now trying to understand AI artwork. I guess it is here and not going away. It is cool stuff, but I am about to turn the laptop off and go out in the garage and just spend time looking at the 32' and 29' Fords in there that are real and feel great to just run my hand over the that old steel and try not to think about the future for awhile.

 

if you are a car guy you got to dig this work. Pretty cool designs. Definitely Harley Earl type designs.

I have been following Zeltango on IG for a while and really like the work, does it really make any difference if its AI generated or hand drawn or modeled or whatever, the results are the prize. They are very well done and could easily be mistaken for design studies from the 1950's. The occasional descriptions of the locations, various styling and powerplant features are also clever and entertaining. Enjoy it for what it is, one person's imaginative automotive daydreaming.

 

If its AI it's not one persons daydreaming...it's millions or billions of scanned or saved Artists work from the www without their permission digitally spun and made into one persons daydream via a program...cool but not very original...and many times comparable to existing Artists works...

The person daydreaming does not require any Artistic capability at all...

 

As a builder of High end Architectural Homes, 4-5-6 years to construct, I think the software to communicate complexity is good. For us in the building world (cars,houses, whatever) it is an amazing tool. The rendering is not just for the end consumer. We used to get a cocktail napkin sketch to convey the shapes a designer wanted, now we can spin the model around and upside down to yank the details out of the designers vision. I know it offends people but, it is an essential tool for us. It has become so complex we spend countless hours designing how mechanicals fit in to the shape just like how a person would sit in a seat. Designers push the boundary of whatever they saw last and we as a trade get to pay our taxes as a result. For me - Bring it on. I still do really enjoy the craft of pen and paper but, it takes a shit to of skill to build them - something no machine can do - Yet.

If I could figure out how to get this in my driveway without using an actual Vette, that would be cool.

 

The highest tech that I use is my TIG welder, and the only AI that I need comes out of the voltage regulator on my 32.

 

This is not only the potential for a useful tool but also quite the toy. I'll still stand pat with my graining brushes tho. I like the "silence" that my work often creates. Hydro gets "...hey that looks nice..." but quite often I've rendered silent amazement. Likely for no more reason than how it's done. Can this thing be told to imagine a ribbon cut mahogany grain?

The front end of that looks hideous. It looks like a sad robot from some art deco sci fi film and it is nothing like the concept art you posted.

 

Expecting AI to have information about a tiny subset of a small hobby it really expecting way to much at this point.

 

Been following Zeltango's IG for a while now. I'm no artist, but I do appreciate good hand drawn/painted automotive related art, and have several art pieces on my living room walls from HAMBers and other well known automotive artists. The hand made stuff has some soul that AI can't match. I do dig the AI stuff for creative inspiration and ideas. I think someone could easily use it to give them a concept to work from if they were building a car and needed that visual element to apply those ideas to a real vehicle build.

Clearly not a spot on build of the car in the print. Still, note several of the design cues, most notably the T-tops or cantilever roof panels. And consider it was 1955-6 and the existing build matl and tech. The AI is stuck in a rut. Everything it seems to spit out conceptually has the same look of tapered excrement. Unless instructed different and specific like the Vette or the GTO Ferrari, they all come out looking like the offspring from the same dirty slut. Ask it to do a drag race 61 Belair bubble top it'll come out all glass vs the actual shape. And again probably rounded off where it isn't in actual reality. No, I'll say Ghia was more faithful than AI, even tho it was 67+ years ago.
