I see Rochester Injection, staggered master cylinders, but I am puzzled by the front suspension, cross spring, but no axle ?
That is a Planar front suspension Marty, I only know that because a friend restored a ‘49 Jeepster and those had that suspension. Also, I think that is a Pontiac engine with the ‘57 Bonneville injection.
My 50 Simca 5, same as Fiat Topolino, has suspension like that, but it's only 51 inches across the front fenders. The oil fills in the valve covers told me Pontiac, but I was told that injection was ugly ! Thanks Larry.
South Bend lathe in 1st period shop class ripped my shirt off! I had to finish the school day in my T shirt. Newc
Hey J6, Here is a 55-56 Mercury Hardtop that you may have seen in the donuts parking lot. It was originally from the East, but I believe it is a So Cal local. At first, it was the nicest car in the lot and we thought the new bank manager was a hot rod/custom guy. HA! He was not taking any chances about someone parking next to him and the door dings that come with the location in the lot. Jnaki Our neighborhood piano teacher on the Westside of Long Beach had a Mercury Hardtop as her own car. Almost every girl in the neighborhood was taking piano lessons from her. So, she bought her own car. It was one of the flashiest cars in the whole area when new. But, it was taking a daily hit from the weather due to the car being left outside in all sorts of coastal influenced weather. Rain, wind, salt air fog, etc. It was a nice looking car for the times…
Said it before;you're bloody amazing at the research business! Thank you again. I asked because that pic could have been taken in any of a very large part of Australia.
I’ve seen photos of that road in magazines over the years and first thought of the one in the Mojave desert but none of them were ever showing it in that bad condition especially if the car is correct ant the photo is that old.. The AAA did an article on it a few years back.
