Howdy everyone, Have been looking for someone in central or south texas (I'm in Victoria Tx) to install an EZ Wire 12 circuit harness in my 26 model Tudor hotrod. Cant seem to locate anyone, and I just dont have time to do it. So I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help. It should be fairly straightforward. No ac/heat or electronics. Basic lights, blinkers, elec fan and fuel pump, standard gauges oil, volt, temp etc.
I already have the harness, just need it installed.
This 26 started life as a hotrod in 1969. Alot hands in the wiring so it's a mess. Everything works, but there is extension chord run for wiring lol
    Want to get it right.
Thanks in advance for your help
    Bill

It's a 12v system. Has a 1969 chevy steering column. After market gauges.

If you’re serious about fixing the wiring, you’re going to end up doing it yourself.

I had never wired anything more complicated than a wall plug, but I did mine one step at a time. I read the schematic and started with the easy stuff like the headlights and taillights, and moved from there. Nobody outside of a professional shop would be interested in touching this job from a liability standpoint, even then you would not get any guarantee but you’d spend money like you were. No sir, take a half hour or so everyday until it’s done.

Enlarge your schematic, put it on the wall, get to it

Central & South Texas is a damn big area, it might help a bit if you mentioned where the car is that needs the help...

Prior to my Ford, I had only done partial harness replacement and they always worked well in the end, one was a 1964 Cadillac, quite involved before the internet days. I had reference books I made copies from, fun.

If you don't need the car as a DD, take your time with it. The toughest part is locating the fuse block and where to route the main bundle. Also may depend on the battery location.

Any harness as-supplied is intimidating. They roll it up to cram it into the box. I have done a few since for friends and they helped. I have an upcoming one with an OT very small car with an LS conversion.,, with a computer.

I made a harness board for my installation. I laid it on a piece of plywood about 18" x 36" I had around the shop. Finishing nails and rubber bands were used to do the "breakouts" and hold the wire bundles. I zip tied the bundles as I went.

I used the steering column as my "datum" and worked either side of it. You need to ID what goes out the firewall, what stays with the dash and what goes to the rear of the car.

Anyway, it is far from rocket surgery. Make yourself familiar with the GM wire coding, it will help with the column end of things at the least. Make some sketches as you go. I used a Kwik Wire kit and the book was excellent. I did an excel spread sheet too, it was only around 50 wires.

Thank you very much for the detailed information.

I was hoping to find someone local to tackle it, but that's proving impossible it seems.

I'm dealing with some medical issues and cant be crawling under the car or dash for awhile.

    Thanks again

If I was closer, I would do it. Don't think you want to ship the car up to Springfield, MO, though.

I cant believe it's so hard to find someone to install the ez wire 12 circuit harness. If I was able, I'd do it myself.

I did my car with the help of a lot of pain medication. I had the front seat and dash out to give me more room. I took my time, I believe I started in May and finished in August of 2015.

Shouldn't be that hard to find a shop or someone who could do it. Used to be a place in Victoria that dealt in cl***ic cars, a dealer i think, -that would be a good place to get a reference for someone. Or, just go to the parts stores, like NAPA, O'Reilley, etc. and ask the mgr. if he knows someone. Car clubs, even some junkyard dudes could probably steer you right.

Good wiring elves are hard to come by. As @Craig59 already stated, if you were in the DFW metroplex you could find several who would do this job for a price.

I know you mentioned “everything works (electrical)”, but is the car drivable? Or are you wanting someone to do the work at your place?
If you mentioned either, I missed it.

Howdy, Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately no, havent been able to locate anyone.
Had one gentleman come by and said he could do it. When I asked him how long it would take to pull old wiring and install the new ez wiring harness, he replied ... oh about 3 hours total and would charge me only 300 bucks.
From what everyone has told me here on the lamb, I knew that wasnt possible. So he didnt get the job.

Good call. No way that an old harness gets pulled, and a new one installed PROPERLY in 3 hrs. I normally quote 20 to 30 hrs, depending on the number of circuits, complexity, size and type of vehicle, amount of dis***embly / re-***embly required, etc. All joints and terminals get fully soldiered and wrapped with heat shrink, wires neatly tied and bundled, etc.
