Hello, How quaint from the times when suit length was important to some. In the late 60s, the skirts for teenage girls ranged from long to very short. The high schools had their women assistant principals or women counselors measure the same distance of the hem, down to the knee. If the length was not long enough, then the parent was called to come to school with an appropriate length skirt. It was not just coastal So Cal, but all over, as the styles for girls/women changed drastically from poodle skirts to skirts barely covering anything. Jnaki It was an interesting few years until the manufacturers had to start making longer length dresses or skirts. Some teens had great ideas of a longer skirt on when they left the house, but once at school, the top hem got rolled until there was a lot for measurement type antics. All in the name of stylish clothes for teens/20 somethings. (And a phase for public schools and their policies.) But, for some public school districts, the measurement still is a thing as the “skimpy” clothing is not allowed. No tank tops, short skirts, short shorts or bandeau tops, either. Unless it is hidden under a long jacket or sweater. For the boys, no slouching pants that are below the waist. Note: In college as 20 somethings, all styles and lengths were appropriate, as it was not a thing for campus police or teachers to criticize any collegiate girl/woman about clothing styles.
