I keep having bad thoughts about sandblasting off the orange patina, and painting it a nice dark green metallic… Can anyone help make that happen before I commit myself? Thank you in advance!

Haven’t nailed down an exact green, but I am partial to ‘67ish Ford Moss green metallic

Might someone change the color of this 41 to the color of the snowmobile. Also, I have been considering getting rid of the beltline groove body line above the fender. Might I also get a picture with that removed with the same color of the snowmobile to compare against each other? thank you.

I e been trying to make a new grille decision on my 52 for the past year. You guys have sent me some interesting options, so I’m still on the fence. I’d like to see it with the 54 Pontiac grille in between the dagmars and a 56 Ford bumper upside down. Am I asking for to much? Thank you in advance! 828F4C4F-06F8-4B56-9D5E-16D1BE102340-39988-0000170672F59A8A.jpeg IMG_9975.jpeg

Did you show this car at a Rumblers car show back in the early 2000’s? Sure looks familiar to me.

I actually bought the coupe a couple years ago, in 2021. Had been sitting under a tarp for decades before that… Sure would love to find more history on it though!

Could someone please upgrade this to the Belaire side chrome and re-work the flames a little to play nice with the chrome? Thank you.

That 150 trim looks better than the Bel Air aluminum siding they put on there. Even better would be the 210 side trim sweep without the dogleg going up off of it.

No, as far as I know, they never made a 150 hard top.
It just ended up that way because the limitations of the software I was using wouldn't let me arrange the flames around the Belaire chrome.

Speaking of such things, I lost my copy of Digital Paint Booth a while back after a hardware failure and while I've heard there's a new version out, the only place I can find it looks a little... sketchy.
    Anybody know anything about it?

themoose did a nice job with the stock trim, so I gave it a custom look with the seldom-used '59 El Camino trim.

    Hello,

Back when my brother got his first car, a 1951 Pale Yellow Oldsmobile two door sedan, his friends used to hang out at our Westside of Long Beach house as teens. One of the favorite things to do was to exchange hubcaps for each different car that showed up. The cars ranged from old/newer Chevy sedans, old Ford coupes, a couple of 4 door sedans, the 51 Olds sedan and whoever could make it to the gatherings.

It was my pre teen job to be the "go-fer" and maintenance guy. So, I was given the job of removing the hubcaps and either putting them on the similar size wheels or taping them on so the "look" would be evident from across the grassy front yard. Everything from Olds flippers to Dodge Lancer 4 prong and even small center hubcaps, with and without trim rings were used back and forth.

So, what did my brother end up getting for his Pale Yellow 51 Oldsmobile cruiser? Original screw in Moon Discs for his Olds sedan.

So, with that in mind, here is a current story plucked out of the HAMB topics as a good photoshop project.
    upload_2023-10-29_5-7-5.png
On another thread a HAMB build is in one of the last phases of construction. It is a mild custom and is in need of wheel suggestions. Trying to superimpose hubcaps seems like a waste of a good paint job and custom car. (been there, done that) So, the idea of whitewalls with chrome reversed rims with a small center cap or bullet on one version. Also the same chrome reversed rims with blackwalls for contrast is the project for you photoshop experts.
    upload_2023-10-29_5-5-32.png
I think this black wheel with small center hubcaps with trim rings would be the great styling for the new Mercury build. But, one of the only reasons we did not have other wheels was lack of money, otherwise, chromed reversed wheels or Halibrand slot wheels were the choice, but a far away choice. YRMV

    Hey Moose,

Outstanding work. Now, hopefully the chrome wheels will over ride the mundane hubcap samples. You are the best! Those chrome wheels make the Mercury look great!

Thank you for your excellent work and always being there.

When I saw the lime-gold on olive green, the first thought was a set of Cadillac Sabre wheels. A tad pricey. though. Then I remembered George Barris Color-Chrome painted hubcaps popular around 1958-62-ish.
Here is a 1967 Mustang (!) wheel cover that everybody threw out, given the spray bomb glitter look. zzzz 04.jpg zzzz 03.jpg

    Hello,
Sorry, I do not like full hubcaps and although the HAMB person who owns the car was in question about hubcaps, I thought he needed to see his custom painted car with nice chrome reversed wheels as a choice. @themoose did an excellent job with his version of chromed wheels.

I am certain those colorful full hubcaps were never popular here in So Cal... 1958-60? I don't think so... The only colorful wheels that were popular were the gold plated BBS wheels during that phase for all cars. Then, years later and all white spoked wheels almost during the same time period for lower cost steel rims.

[IMG] I personally like the black rims with the small center smooth hubcaps and beauty trim rings, if you would like another try at putting those on the custom Mercury Sedan, that would be an alternative to full hubcaps of any kind.

    Thanks...

Wow that's a really cool build thread. The car looks great and it's hard to beat a Hemi.
