    That's what I figured from the pics. I really didn't see a problem.

    @Dino 64 @wuga

    The caliper has to move period.... it has to float, it has to have the ability to move back and forth on the pin.

    Your pin mounts solid to the spindle bracket as in it screws into and locks onto the spindle bracket, then the caliper slides back and forth on that solidly mounted pin, the fender bracket mounts solidly to that pin, so now the pin itself is solid, the fender bracket is solid and the caliper still has to float-move back and forth BUT now you have a solid mount on each side the caliper, the caliper/spindle mount on one side and the fender mount on the other....

    All that needs to be done to prove my point is remove the outer pad, reinstall the caliper and fender mount then try to move the caliper back and forth. You'll get maybe an 1/8" of movement, not enough as I showed in my pics above....

    The pin is no move solid on the fender then it is when seated on the caliper. The pad mount still moves freely on the pin. This thread is now a featured thread and is was about cycle fenders, but has turned into a debate about disk brakes. I think it should go back to cycle fenders which are always a sourcing, vibration and mounting issue.

    Those look great. I had no idea they were available. I've seen similar fenders on choppers and thought they cut up '36 spare tire rings. It's great that they're available! When I mounted the ones on my '35, I stole an idea I got from "American Choppers" (the show was stupid but I did get one good thing from it :rolleyes:) and sat the fender on some plastic tubing to space it a uniform distance from the tire while I made the brackets.

    Run a piece of garden hose over the top of the tire radially not across. Cut a piece about the length of the fender. Then set the fender on top of that as flynbrian suggested.

    I’m working on it ! Went up to @oj’s place, Clark County Speed and we whipped up this solution to @lostone concerns. OJ welded a 3/8x24 stud into the head of the pin( caliper bolt) and then ran a nut down and welded it together. This will allow the caliper to float. I’m in the process of modifying the brackets. Plan on doing a separate thread but here’s what I got so far.Now I can mount the bracket to the studs :) 72229464041__87282D14-5DF1-4029-A755-0BFA3523D675.jpeg IMG_6329.jpeg

    Gordon do you mind posting a picture of the front side of your rear fenders? Not sure if I want to bob at the running board factory cut out or fabricate my way to the ch***is. Thanks

    Hurlbird sorry for the delayed reply. I haven't been on here much over the holidays. Here is a pic of the front of the rear fender. I just cut it off even with the lower edge of the body.

    For anyone still following this thread I added my fenders back on after I put discs on the front of my A. I used my old fenders but made up new mounts. My driver side mounts to the outside of the caliper bracket where it bolts to the front axle in the front and then through the unused extra hole in the steering arm in back. I did have to get a couple longer grade 8 bolts for each side. On the p***enger side the front bracket bolts on outside the caliper bracket in front, like the driver side, but the rear bracket is bolted on by using the nut on top of the tie rod. I was even able to put the cotter pin back in. The calipers are free to move as needed and I don't see any areas of concern with this set up. The only thing I had to do was to clearance the front support brackets a little as when turning full lock either way it bumped the axle a little bit, so I ground a small notch in the side of them. Seems to work fine. Now to drive it a bit and see how they do. Hope this helps someone.

    Just to add one more option. I drilled and tapped a 3/8 Hole in the calliper mounting bracket for my rear mount and one of the 4 bolts for the front. I wasn’t planning on keeping them past the licensing inspection but 2200 miles latter and they are still there. The look really grew on me so on the fenders stay IMG_3024.jpeg

    Has anyone used Raleigh bicycle forks or any bike fork to mount their fenders? I have heard good things about the look, but have never seen them used. Anyone got a picture?
