A few years back I told myself no more projects. I never finish them.
So all I've done is catch and release.
Have a L79 327,a Muncie 4-speed and a 6-71 blower sitting on a shelf so I'm on the hunt for a '55 Chevy 2 dr post body with a ***le. Just a shell, really. Only car that might motivate me enough to get running/driving.

I don't know who exactly you're talking to, or what exactly you mean, but I sold ONE... in 1994.

Well, first I need to make some room, 8 or so years ago I had to consolidate 4 places on 6 acres in an acre of land and about 15/20% of shop space, that’s now more storage than shop.
    In order:
    OT car for the kid
    ‘57 Chevy PU
Toss up between another ‘36 Ford PU or ‘32 Dodge PU.
    OT car
    OT Car
    OT car

I want to go into sell mode, realistically I know I can’t get everything done, but it would take an act of congress for me to get a roller from the back out to where it could be trailered off.

I’m really considering a pole barn out at the end of the pasture, and moving things out of direct weather to open up shop space. Just need to talk the neighbor into letting me put a gate up in fence and have access to the back of my place. Can’t believe he doesn’t want concrete trucks rolling in and out of his pasture;)

Finish what i have started. And I have always wanted to build a body from scratch. Maybe a vintage ferrari clone or an ed roth style creation.

    Hello,

I too have worked with wood most of the adult life during the single, married, married with children and even to the granddaughter stage. But, as nice as finished wood looks, there is always extra work necessary for upkeep. It does not matter if it has two coats of polyurethane surface protection to resin and fibergl*** for style or protection, wood takes more work than painted metal.

Refinishing antique wooden products and then the continual upkeep was daunting. But at the time, being 20-30 somethings we had the time, but the extra daily care was not a good use of time. we also wanted a 46 Ford woody and had our eyes on a semi finished woody with an SBC motor. The paint was good, but the wood finish was not in the best shape. We knew there was a long road ahead to get the complete wood work sanded, adjusted and make the fit/finish pristine.

We were 20 somethings with time and the whole lives ahead of us. But, it was valuable time for beach activities, surfing, road trips and just being together listening to our rock and roll music on our huge speakers. Being together was the whole idea of being married and living on our own. What was the most important thing was not the future hot rod, but the idea that we answered to each other and not to family, friends or the whole world.

So, priorities, as a newlywed couple had difficulties of its own, but once adjusted and understood, it rolled along to allow us time together like no other. We were on our own time schedule. And, we needed something to drive, take normal care and show attention when necessary. Not sitting in a garage working on making the hot rod/daily driver work without any problems for usage anytime.

We looked at a station wagon that could have been a sister to the 65 El Camino. Two doors, room to sleep in the back, security for our surfboard and safety for our camera gear.

If we had purchased this version we saw, then my wife would drive the red El Camino and I would drive the red station wagon. All good designs from the factory. It would have been a minimal existence as far as a project hot rod was concerned. No daily garage work other than photographic work. Constant daily use with any worries about stopping for repairs. The station wagon would have fit right into our lives, nicely.

Today, it would be hard to replace our daily drivers, but if we had a three car garage, perhaps this 65 two door station wagon would be sitting there with its 383 crate motor, A/C, modern upgraded suspension and rear air shocks/bags for heavy duty usage and necessities usually carried around. In the non pandemic era, suitcases for log range travel and beach stuff… YRMV

If I bought another project to build I'd really love a late 30s 5 window coupe. It'd be a "mild" hot rod, I'd do a bunch of engine work and lower it an inch or two but leave the rest clean and factory looking. Basically a moonshiner type car.
But realistically I'm putting most of my collection out to pasture so that I can focus on my 57 Chevy sedan. I just want to enjoy what I've got at this point, tired of being ****terbrained...

My next project is this '40 Ford p/u (ninth one of these for me) with a Buick nailhead someone else started on, but never finished (which is the case for most of my car projects).
Recently moved...shop still needs to be set up.
It will be on hold, until our new house gets built on the property.
As for projects, I consider all of my cars "projects", as they never really are "done".

I recently bought this '31 Ford Tudor. I have a lot of driveline parts on hand but haven't decided a direction to take the car yet. Thoughts are going traditional with a flathead, or maybe even the original banger, but I also have a 241 Red Ram Hemi to go a bit later hot-roddy with it. I want to have a firm plan in mind before I even start on it rather than flip-flopping a couple times like I did when I built my Model A Coupe. I hope to use a lot of stuff I already have rather than ending up with even more inventory.

A '53 Studebaker Starlight Coupe built to look like a Bonneville LSR racer, but streetable,
to go with my streetable '49 Anglia painted up to look like a '60s g***er,
and my streetable '30s era champ car.

My next two…. Pickup will mainly just get cleaned up, lowered and driveable. The Merc needs everything and will be a traditional Caddy-powered and chopped, tail-dragging custom.

Besides the coupe in my avatar and my 53 Dodge PU I have a 29A sedan body hanging on the shop wall, just not sure of my direction.
