Not from here either and the cap doesn't look much better.

  2. Jim. It may be possible that the hold down bolt loosened up some over this long running time and the set timing moved. I mention this because it has happened to me before.

The tip inside the cap looks flat?

Jim, is the distributor cap button contacting the rotor properly? Almost looks like it may be getting short and arcing. Might be my eyes too....

The button is worn some, it's a used distributor full of old used parts.

I set the timing up again and it's running normal. I don't think it slipped, the retainer is a good one and he bolt was tight. I'll just keep an eye on it.

Went to the NHRA races for a bit to spectate, it was fun...been a long long time since I went to a big show, and they weren't near as big back then. Got there when they'd just finished the first qualifying round, so we got to see the slower sportsmen cars run qualifying, then the pro cars, including FC and TF. Pretty wild how they get up close to 300 mph in the 1/8th mile.

saw an almost hamb friendly 57 wagon run.

In the morning I get to go to a cars and coffee meet up on the south part of town, then head across the dam, then up to the Grand Canyon, then down to Phoenix to race in the morning.

The trucker gas stops east of Kingman is always cheaper than in town, but you probably know that.

Might have just been the rubbing block wearing a bit on the trailing set of points...glad the timing fixed it. Good luck in Phoenix.

I binge watched four of them last night. The link was already posted with no " embedded preview". A fun to watch group of videos if you like drag racing, some cool scenic stuff and just want to see a bunch of folks having a good time cruising around Arizona, Nevada and Cali and racing on occasion.

Just a thought , I always mark distributor base & intake , so if timing has moved , I can narrow down if Distributor moved, play in shaft , inside wear , timing chain , gear drive .

Some thing to try to do @ Pro show is try to get , Stand @ tree with starter when Fuel run, Its more likely some thing you can not describe or imagine!!
Even more Thrilling @ Out law tracks with only 8-10 feet between both Dragsters, Funnys & Altered,;)
Back in 77 I was hit in chest with spark plug ,Funny car threw the body @ the tree, Now in my 50s Its a Hell of a rush when Fuel blows up @the Hit , Rare , but it part of sport ""Dangerous"

On the road early this morning. Made it to Kingman already, not far to go, and no more desolate roads.

The car is running fine now.

It'll be nice not to have to drive 1500 miles home after the last race!

The morning cars and coffee checkpoint was fun. I got there early, and ate breakfast. Ended up talking with a guy with a (slightly OT) vette factory equipped with one of the first 427s ever produced. him and his buddies got a kick out of my car and what I'm doing with it.

I ended up in tenth place. Not bad, I guess! There were 56 cars that finished.

    I made it home! Yay....

Also I think I had the fastest average of the cars that finished, that did not pull a trailer.

  27. I was watching videos of the trip and my g/f walked in while I was watching the one where everyone was pulling into Rubys in Laguna Beach. I showed her your car with the packed trunk and she asked why everyone else has a trailer. That should definitely factor in the results.

Congrats and thanks for bringing us along.

Watching the videos that looked a fab trip. And there’s something far more special doing it in your car than a 2007 Vette or the like. Great result on the time slip at the end. Puts all those guys with their two steps and “need to send the download to my mate in Fresno to fix it” to shame.

Looks like you’ve changed the colour of your parking brake ;)
