Gettin' cold up the hill here, too.
Congrats on the TOP TEN win and thanks for bringing us mutts with you.
That was quite the trip, not even counting that you had just finished a drag week less than a month before in a convertible! Livin' the dream! That isn't some poseur at C&C, it's a real rod.

Online recap I read says "turbocharged LS" which would be no big surprise!
No other details but you can probably guess the rest.... pretty much O/T stuff....

Yeah, there were a few cars faster than mine that actually finished, that were running "interesting" engines, specifically a Pontiac and an Olds (both from Canada). But my car was really the only HAMB allowed car on the whole deal, unfortunately. Strange that no one else gets into using old stuff, that still works 50-60 years later, to go fast. I just don't get it.

Jim I noticed there only 2 older cars than yours, a 33 Ford and a 60 Ford Falcon…..doesn’t say much about trusting what you have…maybe we all need more “reliability runs” instead of Friday night cruise in’s…..

I'm thinking in one of the vidios they did a chit chat session with the owner. A lot of those "late" small blocks running in that event though.

One of my favorite things in the videos is the ride along with Jim and I am not sure which video it is in.
My wife and I watched a couple of the videos on youtube on our TV and then I binge watched after she went to bed.

Day 2 is the one with the bit with me at the end of it. Starts around 26 minutes in.

The 30s Ford was not a 30s ford, it's one of those kit cars.

I wish Joel had been able to bring his coupe, but things were conspiring against him.

  8. Congratulations :)

I don't think the position anyone places is as impressive as just finishing the event. Very much appreciate you taking the time to include us in your travels :)

Any idea how many failed to complete the event? I am aware that Tom B. had to bow out early.

I think there were about 5 that dropped out. They were mostly faster cars. Not bad.

Answer on the results sheet a page back.
That is attached on this post. Looks like 7 who started (times the first day) didn't finish.

Thanks, hemi. I didn't know if the full sheet was entries or entrants at the first location, so gambled with a guess.
Lots of breakage that first day! To finish first, first you must finish indeed.

I think the list includes no-shows and "tour only" entries in the first day drop outs.

    kind of confusing

Was it really a 283? I didn't ask what size. I know they were fighting valvetrain issues all week...

Just wanted to say thanks for taking us along on this trip. I've really enjoyed it and I know the others have also. I look forward to the next adventure.

Thanks for the ride along and photos. I am going to get out in the shop and get my ride gone over for some weekend trips again. Thanks @squirrel for the inspiration.

Thanks for the ride along and congrats on your finish. I should find a car again after I get settled. Then go for an epic trip with a fix it with wrench car again. Maybe back to Bonneville salt flats and get in the club.

“Death week is about doing something really stupid witch makes it fun” sounds like a great justification for a hotrod!:)

I gotta say that I watched the last episode just to see what the man had to say about his adventure. That little chevy seems to be dead reliable and fast.

Love these event threads, no shame in living vicariously through Squirrel's adventures!!

  24. So now what, the Vette is pretty much sorted with just minor repairs and tweaking and the Chevy II is good to go. We all know how fast you get bored, so another project car coming up ?

Can't agree with 'bored' as much as 'gets it done':)

I was thinking that same thought last night! I'm going to see if I can avoid getting another project for a while....

Have you looked into a reason why the timing backed out like it did?
