I think the large blindspot in front would make me consider a mid engine.

  9. What an outstanding car! The technology for the time is amazing! If this car doesn't exist today, that is a crime against humanity....

  10. Wonder if it’s all wheel drive.
I’d like to see how the front diff is driven

...Sebring Drags 1958...Pretty radical mods on this one...obviously more go than show...but show doesn't win the race...it may have even been in transition to a shinier, finessed presence...no matter it's cool we have a moment to witness it in the winners circle...

  17. There's a guy online that digitally illustrates his kids' animal drawings. Keep in mind his kid is like 5 years old. I won't post pictures so as not to detract from the thread, but suffice to say, you can tell the animal, though it's not quite right.
Feels similar to this. The guy had a vision for a hotrod in his head, but the execution is just not quite on the money.

Great perspective....what goes on in the garage is many times a personal journey, Hotrod and Custom equally share this analogy...why because beyond purpose there a visual factor aka the canvas and that ole saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

When I do visual art I please myself first and then share it with the masses...I think that defines most who embark on these ventures...That's why I like this Thread so much...

...this was shared by the Late Hamber @quick85...I'm not sure if he took the pic but I can tell he did some work to get it ready to frame...he did that a lot making some uncomfortable in the process...

I've done it too noting some aren't always computer/scanner savy and yeah I always hope for a thumbs up by the poster...so far so good...:)

...I note this Roaring Roadster is tractor nosed...yupp! Tractor nosed...is not as shiny as they were many times. Perhaps this was typical given most pics were black and white or a possible reflection of haves and have nots. Judging by the hood ornaments the team and Driver didn't let appearances slow them down a bit...

    RIP Quick85

The Deuce Shell wins out 4 to 1 here...diversity in styling is still highly evident with this rarer glimpse of the color of the moment...the racer in 42 has a smile that says it all really...as he gets ready to light up the track, Flames and all...

Is that the 60s, 70s Racer his youth...can't think of the name...Al Unser maybe...

...a link to a post by Hamber @Rootie Kazoootie with some racers in their younger days...I'm not sure it's Al...:)

Update...Dan Gurney is who I was thinking of...

...hmmm, perhaps the inspiration or part of it...this is a drop tank but not typical of the style we're used to seeing at the Dry Lakes and a looker to boot...

  22. The red one is just SO heavy ahead of the front axle that the proportion and balance feel all wrong.
I'm recalling my childhood... 'if you don't have anything nice to say...', so I'll just stop here. :)

I believe that was a look back then...I'm not fond of it either but it was pretty common...there's a vintage Roadster/Survivor with a 130k pricetag on it shared here a while back that also had that axle setback...they certainly have more complimentary angles...I wonder if they did it for handling? Purpose over looks...not really a negative view just a why did they do it that way...think about altered wheelbase racers as an example...;)

...the story behind this is beyond amazing...many twists and turns...all I will say is there is now a Replica of the Black Beauty in Red and a restored later Hotrod iteration by the Son who would be Hamber @richie oneill

He was a little put off some of the comments and I understand why, but what his Dad did was a stand up build with the remains he got in 1968...they were different times...and the fact one did a replica of it's original livery speaks to it's mixed popularity...now there's a happy medium...

a lot can be done that is clearly different, but not sticking out like a sore thumb. Painted, peaked, and filled radiator shell with directly mounted quail. Plus relocated holes for lights and horn wiring and lowered headlight bar and BLC lights, all add up to a bundle of small changes/details that are not frequently performed.
