...There has without a doubt, like everything, been an evolution in Flames. I really am fond of these abstractions to flames that graced the Hotrods in the later 40s to the mid 50s...The Berardini Bros. were a force and the pair of Roadsters sporting these artsy graphics cleaned up winning, winning and winning... Perfect flames indeed... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/iconic-berardini-32-roadster-up-for-grabs-sold.1113885/
I like flames on other peoples cars. One of my all time favorites. Lots of sparkle to this one. Sadly this paint job is no more from what I hear.
...said the Mini Bike Gorilla... I remember that 56 and always thought they nailed it on all fronts...Glad there's pics...
...A teaser really, but I'm giving a high five to the Tri Five...wouldn't mind seeing more but what's showing hits my like button...perfect...pretty damn close... Credit to Photographer, Owner
Coby took this shot of my 40 at the Roc. Thought I’d share it here. Not saying my flames are “perfect”, but I like the picture.
It had to come to this. Not in our wheelhouse to be sure, but I think a natural progression of an art form. If you look to the right of the front hold down hole you can see an image of a nude trophy girl. It was NOT intentional, just happened to flow that way. Done for one of my closest friends, I once penciled a naked lady turning into fire. His mom saw that and said "...and that son of a bitch better not paint naked women on your car!" and made him erase it. This was in 2007. "Don't let your mom see that, it just happened, didn't do it on purpose." He still doesn't believe it. Anyway, if it has to be removed, I get it. Fun story...
https://www.motortrend.com/features/the-american-hot-rod/ ...it's been shared and mentioned here already, Period correct...you betcha...pretty up there in notoriety and predating the California Kid by a long shot...this is a pretty much, perfect set of flames...just an opinion of course...it's really the know it when you see it more than 1-10. Tom did the walk and had a pretty high bar in such matters not to mention maximum exposure to all things Hotrod really... ...AND how about the sticker price in that ad eh! It's still around too...a tragic story in some ways...
...Hamber @thunderbirdesq's flames are spot on in my opinion, actually this Hotrod is typical of the greatness he shares with us on occasion, like so many here I truly look forward to what he's up to... Credit to Photographer, Owner
My 32 was all black when i finished it 7 years ago and awhile back The Moose photoshopped some flames on it in the photoshop thread so i went ahead and pulled the trigger and laid these on it and glad i did as I 'm very pleased with the results.
You guys ever have trouble getting the wife to agree on flames? If you want flames, get ‘em on there before trouble starts.
A friend's father customized this 56 around 58 His son followed along in his footsteps doing flames today.
Heck, can't even get them by the Hamb on the best of days, never mind the wife...They are a powerful statement...I still enjoy them if it suits the Hotrod or Custom...some shared here are pretty modern but some still reach further back then forward...kinda like mags sometimes...hard to carbon date as some were ahead of the 8 ball...I call them trendsetters, that's not always good trendsetting either...
The guy the has laid out more flames than anyone else on the planet has passed away . Mr Bill Roell . RIP ole Buddy
Is this car yours?? I was about 7 years old up in Lake George at the Adirondack Nationals in 1992 and remember a car with flames almost to the back! I thought it was the coolest thing ever! and have had this car, or one damn near identical burned into my brain since! @Hank37
I was blown away buy this Deuce the first time I saw it and was fortunate to own it for a while, it’s an awesome hot rod
